“Perfection, Pristine and Palatial!!!”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

We recently returned from a beautiful few days at this fabulous hotel. We had an oceanfront suite on the fifth floor which lived above and beyond our expectations. The room was huge, opulent, warm and inviting. The bed was heavenly. Like sleeping on a cloud, it was very hard to get out of bed in the morning just for the sheer luxury of the crisp clean sheets and the mattress that enveloped your every move. The bathroom was enormous with a gorgeous separate shower, bath with spa and a separate toilet with heated toilet seat accompanied with a panel on the wall which gives you the option of having the services of a bidet should that be your choice. Our balcony went the full length of the suite having doors leading from both living and bedroom areas with lovely balcony furniture to gaze upon the beautiful ocean and manicured tropical grounds. The staff were outstanding. Courteous, very friendly and professional. Nothing was ever a problem and all your requests are attended to with the utmost care.

The swimming pool area is unique in itself with all areas having a lagoon type atmosphere, so you can swim wherever you like, be it amongst wonderful cascading waterfalls and manmade beaches. An absolute delight for all ages and perfectly relaxing.

Restaurants are fabulous. A great range for all tastes and diets. We spent our 27th wedding anniversary at Donderos. An exceptional atmosphere, great service and delightful meal. We decided to have in room dining for breakfast each morning. Sitting on the balcony overlooking the ocean and the beautiful grounds, was certainly memorable and a divine way to begin the day.

On the whole, this superb hotel delivered in every respect. We are definitely planning a return visit next year. With such superb service and ambience, we highly recommend a stay for that special occasion. It is a bit pricey, but worth every cent!!!

Room Tip: If you can afford it, choose an oceanfront suite. Yes, it is expensive, but really adds that someth...

My family of four, husband, 15 and 17 year old and myself just returned from an eight night stay at the Grand Hyatt Kauai. The place is gorgeous - the grounds, the rooms, the island. We had booked 2 garden view rooms and were pleased with them - they were very large and on the sixth floor - it was nice to be high up and look down onto the gardens. The parking lot was behind the greenery but we could not even see it. As a splurge we moved into a garden suite with a connecting garden room for our final 4 nights. The room was beautiful and the extra living space was a nice place for us to gather together. The food was very good - (and expensive), we ate at all of the restaurants on site. We also ate at many places off site, they too were very good and expensive. The Grand Hyatt is a destination vacation - it took us a good five days to see everything on the grounds. After our daily excursions, we always looked foward to returning to the beauty of the Grand Hyatt.

The lobby took our breath away.
Housekeeping staff were very friendly.
We got the rooms with ocean views as we had requested.
We attended their orientation for island activities which was extremely helpful.
I suggest this free service that enabled us to plan and organize our chosen adventures by days, times and the number of people attending. They then organized all the events for us and charged them to our room. The tickets and step by step directions along with event pamphlets were organized in one envelope and handed to us on the same day! We thought this really helped us organize our time. The self service parking was kind of far away from our room and not spread out for easy access. The front desk staff were not too friendly.

It was my first time ever going to Hawaii and the hotel made it even better. the swimming pool is so big and the water is little cold. But i do wish that they would turn up the heat in the pool to like 78% but that's just me.The pool is so big that you can kayak through it. There is always something to do and i love this train that comes and picks you up. I think it is called the aloha express. I also really do like tide pools. I hope that i can keep coming back here because there is so much Hawaii culture .

Room Tip: By the ocean is the way to go.

Our family vacation over a late spring break week included ages from 3 to 80. Plenty for all to do. You could easily spend a week and not leave the property. A few members of our group did the regency club and loved it. The best value on the property is the coffee shop on the far side of the lobby. Great muffins. ,y wife and I would split a breakfast panini most mornings.

Wife loved the spa and the tennis clinic. Golf was very expensive and a bit stuffy but beautiful and in great shape. We did twilight rate for $100. The rest of my rounds were at kiahuna which is right down the road.

We ate at all the restaurants. Donderos was a bit dated but the food was great. Yum cha was also dated but very good. Since we had such a big group we ordered family style in advance. Tide pools had great view and atmosphere. All the food was expensive but too be expected in a Hawaiian resort.

Kids loved the salt water lagoon with beach. We did not get to take advantage of the adult pool but that is certainly a nice touch. Highly recommend the 50$ for a cabana at least once during your stay.

Paid a small upgrade for the larger rooms with king and queen. Worked out great for the kids and grandma.

Many of the common areas cold use updating, but overall the property is incredible. Views everywhere. Parrots, koi, swans, lakes, oversize chairs and play room all enhance the property.

2 small outdoor shopping centers with plenty of restaurants a short drive away.

For the family I would recommend this property over just about any in hawaii.

Room Tip: Don' see the need to pay extra for ocean view. Your stay will be filled with them as the whole...

Our visit to the Grand Hyatt was quite fabulous. The staff is exceptional, everyone was so friendly, helpful and courteous. Grand Club was wonderful ,especially Laura and Titus.. . The advice from the concierge for things to do was right on and well appreciated. The Island Helicopter tour into the waterfalls will be forever remembered. The first morning introduction seminar was very helpful. The Grand Hyatt property with the pools and lagoon was so beautiful and well maintained. We loved the swans and fish. The flowers are breathtaking. Food and drinks while pricey were delicious.I booked an Ocean Club room and was given what was a partial view as you had to leave your room to see the ocean. When we complained, we were told we could move into an ocean front the next day. Although we were anxious to unpack and get settled into our room , we moved the next day to a gorgeous ocean view (4026)where we could see and hear this magnificent ocean.(I guess I should have, but we did not notify the front desk, when we opened our sliding doors to this glorious sight, a neighboring room obviously could not read the rules about this being a non smoking resort and several nights we had to endure this disgusting smoke..ignorant and rude-and not good at all! ) Also the room was near the Club lounge...perfect location... For those who prefer a beach, this is not the best choice although there are several nearby. Shipwreck being on property was small. We tried the state park nearby and decided we were much more comfortable at the Hyatt's amazing pools and lagoon. We did not miss the beach at all.. More pool umbrellas would be a plus .Toured the entire island and it was always so wonderful to return to this little piece of paradise every evening with the torches all aglow..Oh and .one more indulgence! Not too far from the hotel is the most delicious ice cream store called Lapperts.Hopefully we will return to the Grand Hyatt with our children and grandchildren in the near future.. I highly recommend this to other couples and families..
Aloha!

Room Tip: While i booked a ocean club the room we were given was a partial view. You had to go outside to view...

First of all, if you're thinking about going to Hawaii it will be expensive. And this hotel is no exception. You get what you pay for. At this resort, you get unmatched beauty, immaculate grounds, authentic Hawaiian ambiance, pleasing, friendly service and a pool/lagoon area that is the best I've ever seen. Our room was amazing, I think it was ocean view, as you could see the ocean beyond the pool and lagoon. We had a safe and little fridge. Bathroom was large and nice and the vadai was fun! We were on the 4th floor which is actually the same floor as the lobby which is the ground level. Not sure why the floors are labeled like that. Its all open air, we could walk out our room, down the hall and out to our car, no doors to go through. The pool area is on the 3rd floor only because the grounds are kind of hilly. The pools all connect and wind down through water falls and a really fun water slide. The lagoon is beautiful. It has a sand bottom but is ruff on the tootsies so I wore my water shoes. You can rent a kayak for $10 and is worth riding around the whole thing. We ordered lunch at the pool grill many times and the food was excellent. The beach in back of the hotel is ruff but its fun watching the surfers and the crazy people jumping off the cliff. Make sure you hike up to the top of the cliff when you're there.

As I stated earlier, food is expensive as expected. We chose to stop by a grocery store and get some bananas, OJ and cereal and have breakfast in our room with our amazing view. The breakfast buffet at the resort is $31 per person. They do have a starbucks with great coffee expensive pasteries and breakfast sandwiches. They also have gift shops at tge resort with reasonably priced snacks and drnks. We went to a private luau one night and the food was excellent. We ate at a few of the restaurants and service was always good, scenery magnificent, and food delicious.

We took advantage of some of the activities the resort had to offer. We went to the hula lessons which were fun and informative. We went to lay making class which was really neat and took ukulele lessons. All of these were free and the staff made them so enjoyable! My husband used the gym which was very nice. There are white swans and a couple black swans in some of the ponds and beautuful koi fish as well as macaws perched on trees in the lobby and other birds brought out at different times throughout the resort. It is a very very tropical and beautiful resort.

You could stay at the resort and never leave, but if you go to Kauai, you have to explore. You have to rent a car. But, the best advice when coming to Kauai is to get the Ultimate Kauai guidebook. It has so much valuable info and we planned our whole trip around different things we found in that book.

Happy travels!

Aloha and Mahalo for your review!

We are thrilled that you had an amazing stay with us! It's great to hear that you enjoyed much of what the resort has to offer, including swimming throughout the pools and lagoon, taking hula and lei making classes, and exploring the grounds landscaping and wildlife! We too agree hiking along the beach and nearby cliffs offer breathtaking views of the ocean and coast. Thank you for also recognizing our staff for the friendly Aloha-spirited service they provided. We hope to welcome you back to Kauai in the near future!

Mahalo and A Hui Hou (until we meet again),
