My wife and I stayed at the Grand Hyatt for our honeymoon back in November. We had a lovely stay. The pools and lagoon are amazing and the bars and restaurants all have their own style and theme. We had a particularly good meal at Tidepools, which sits out over the water and you can watch the koi swimming around from your table. We received some complimentary gifts for being on our honeymoon including a day in a cabana by the pool and a nice bottle of champagne which was a lovely touch. The staff were very friendly and always willing to help out. We were very pleased with our stay and highly recommend the resort!

Room Tip: I would opt for an ocean view next and pay the extra as there wasn't much to see from a garden v...

What a stunning resort. We stopped to see this hotel for a future stay. Ronald at the Front Office was very helpful. Look for the bird that talks and the incredible public spaces! We will be back here...

This is our second time staying at this hotel. We first stayed here 10 year ago, and again this past December. The first time it was just our wife and I, and we had a great time. This time it was our whole family, and it didn't go as well.

Most notably, we were put into a room with a king bed for a family of 4. I had called a couple weeks before to ensure they would honor our request for a room with 2 queens or 2 double beds, and was assured they would with a family of 4. When we arrived we were told no kings were available and there were no roll away beds available either. I told them this was clearly not acceptable. Finally after a lot of negotiation, they "found" a spare roll away and said they would move us as soon as a room with 2 beds freed up. After 6 days at the resort, we were never given a room with 2 beds. When we checked in at the desk every day, we were told there were no rooms that opened up. I told them it was hard to believe after 6 days not a single person checked out of a room with 2 beds. We were told by a manager that "they have, but we had promised those to other customers checking in, and it wouldn't be good to make 2 situations bad instead of 1". I REALLY poor response to an obviously upset customer. Finally as we were checking out, the trainee at the desk asked me how things were and I told her I was not happy. She took it upon herself to do something for me and discounted the room and gave my children party gift bags with stuffed animals, books and activities. It was a small gesture, but went a long way. Too bad the management isn't as good as their trainee.

Obviously I was not happy with the room situation. Otherwise, the hotel is very nice. The pools are truly amazing. The restaurants are great, and the selection is awesome. It is a very large hotel, so be prepared to walk. The location is nice, but Kauai tends to feel a bit more isolated than the other islands.

Overall, it's a very nice hotel, but I have a real issue with the management. I would recommend it for the hotel itself, just hope you get the room you were expecting.

I haven't stayed here for many years, and went recently with my husband. Our eight day romantic getaway was absolutely wonderful, thanks to the fantastic staff at the Grand Hyatt. It is a large resort, but feels smaller due to the personalized service we received. The staff was lovely and always smiling and friendly. We were upgraded to a full ocean-view room, and when it came time to check out we had to tear ourselves off of our patio. Dondero's was delicious, and the breakfast buffet each morning was excellent. The pool was a fun as I remember it, and I couldn't get my husband off of the waterslide! This is a great hotel for couples or families. We will be back very soon!

Room Tip: Stayed in room 5007 and it was fantastic and quiet!

A fine hotel with interesting and imaginative grounds, pools, and tropical gardens. Cuisine can be formal... again interesting and imaginative,... or casual... no problem to produce burgers around the pool.
Comfort and luxury is prerequisite. Relax, or Spa yourself, or wander around the fine beach / cycle the deserted roads of red earth. Heaven. Back soon. Soon as I possibly can.

Room Tip: a high floor gives fine views of cliff jumpers !

My husband and I stayed here in April 2012 as part of a work award trip for his large company. We extended our stay by several days to take in the sights alone as well. What an absolutely beautiful resort. The service was wonderful, the employees were wonderful. Only negative is the beach is very rocky and rough, so we weren't able to go in the water.

Resort has many shops, so don't worry if you forget something at home. Loved the staff offering bottled water, umbrellas, etc. as we left for our various excursions. Husband's company provided transportation for us during the company sponsored portion of our trip, but we rented a car for the remainder to explore the island....and please DO explore the island.

Ate at all of the restaurants on site, Tidepools was by far our favorite. Late in the trip, we discovered the joy of strolling over to the golf club house for breakfast.

This April, we'll be at the Hyatt Regency Maui and I'm just hoping it can compete with this resort.

Aloha and Mahalo for your review!

We are thrilled to hear you and your husband had a wonderful stay with us last spring! It's great that you stayed for a few days after the company activities to explore the island and enjoy relaxing at the resort. Thank you for also recognizing our staff and the friendly service they provided. It would be a pleasure to welcome you back in the near future!

This hotel was under going some renovation while we were there, nothing that was too disturbing. The hospitality was wonderful, rooms clean and the toilets were a nice touch ; )
Club level adequate for light appetizers and drinks. The spa area is lovely although massage rooms moved out of the spa facility to a hotel room close by. The lap pool and jacuzzi in the spa area were very nice. Burgers poolside worth the $$.

Concierge, bellmen and front desk all very accommodating. There are some very nice shops in the resort. Loved every minute there.

Room Tip: If you are doing the club level get one next to stairway downstairs or upstairs. Easier than taking...
