We love this hotel. It's expensive but comparing with st Regis in princeville where we stayed the previous two nights grand Hyatt is a bargain.

I stayed here for two nights for a reward business trip.

Service - Super! Really friendly with a real Aloha attitude to the staff. Very welcoming, everyone was fantastic and seemed really concerned about your stay. I had a minor issue with the valet and bell man, and spoke with the staff at the front desk and they issued me a 100 dollar resort credit on the spot. Waiters, pool help, etc was great. .

Rooms - nice views, but showing some wear and tear. large bathrooms, clean with nice bath products, showers need a deeper cleaning. Rooms were nice, but for the money they charge, I expected a St Regis or Four Seasons quality, it was more like a Marriott.

Resort - amazing, beach views, ample hammocks and chair swings by the beach, amazing river pool with slides, the best ever salt lagoon, gorgeous landscaped grounds. The best in Kauai.

Food - major disappointment. buffett was poor quality and not fresh fruits, tidepools was way overpriced for so-so food. pool restaurant was better but pricey. No kid friendly options for dinner.

Spa - lovely facilities but WAY WAY rip off. I felt guilty for days, and why do they charge you a mandatory 20% tip, makes no sense.

Overall this place is great, worth a return trip. I would chose this if I had kids, and the St Regis in Princeville if I were on a couples trip.

We stayed at this hotel with our 2.5 year old daughter in January and had a great time. From the moment you step into the entryway with its breathtaking views of the ocean, you know you're in for a relaxing stay.
During our visit, the hotel was near capacity and yet it did not feel at all crowded. This may be because most guests were adults rather than families at that time of year. We were on the side of the hotel nearest to the pools, and I *strongly* recommend that families with small children (who plan to use the pool) ask to stay on that side of the property, as having the ability to quickly run to your room if necessary makes all the difference in a parent's ability to remain in good spirits if something gets left behind, or if a little one needs a break from the sun. The property is very large, and if you had to walk literally 10-15 minutes each way to and from your room before or after pool time, it would really change things.
The number of pools and their different character makes it possible to have several different types of water adventures all in one hotel stay! My husband loved the waterslide, and my daughter hopes to join him obit some day.
There was also a cool hike to fantastic cliff top views right on (or adjacent to) the property.
The restaurants on premises offer good food: the breakfast was delicious, and the waitstaff were so nice! They remembered our daughter each morning and made her feel special.
My daughter still fondly remembers our visit, from the evening musical shows, including the children's hula class performance, to the daytime animal shows with Duke the parrot, to the on site luau, and asks when we get to go back.

Room Tip: Stay in the wing close to the pool if you plan to swim there...the other side of the hotel is closer...

We have stayed at Hyatts all over the country, and this, by far, was the most beautiful resort ever. Yes, it's expensive, but the entire experience created by Hyatt cannot be matched by any other.

The grounds seem to go on forever, with expanses of pool and waterfalls, gardens and quiet little nooks everywhere. It's truly a sight to behold. The pool area is just awesome - and they wisely include an "adult pool" for those of us who don't bring kids and prefer the quiet and relaxation. The spa is gorgeous with private hot tub inside the women's locker room area - also a sauna and steam bath.

The rooms are nicely sized. We had a club level room which included a "continental breakfast" which was actually a LOT more than "continental". Salmon, fresh pastries, frittatas, cereal, fruit, bagels, etc. we filled up daily at no extra cost.

The staff was beyond friendly and helpful, and they truly catered to our every need. I would like to mention Victor in Valet and Leah at the concierge who helped make this the best vacation we've ever had. As we sat on our balcony at night, watching clouds float by against a bright moon, we said more than once.. "God, I love the Hyatt." Thank you Grand Hyatt for an awesome vacation. See you again!

Stayed here as part of an award trip for my husband. Although a rough start when the valet/bellhop failed to take our luggage out of the trunk of the rental car having to wait 4hrs for them to locate it only after I had to come down to the desk.

The rooms were spacious, clean , and well appointed.. The beach is nice but the water is rough. I loved the pools, many to choose from. There are many restaurants to choose from and tidepools is great, best meal and the atmosphere is fun.

I would definitely stay here again.

This is our second visit at the Hyatt. We were here 18 years ago. This hotel has to be one of the most beautiful in the world. The landscaping grounds and pools make you feel like you are in a tropical paradise we just left the four seasons Maui which was also beautiful but the grounds here can't be beat. Great for honeymooners or families. Something for everyone. The rooms are adequate and bathrooms fairly large. The service has been very good. It's a place you never want to leave!! Very relaxing!

Room Tip: We had a room with a pool view which was nice to look out onto

My wife and I spent 7 nights here the last week of June 2012. The hotel pools and surrounding lush tropical grounds are a sight to behold. The plantings surrounded and accented by lava rock were very eye appealing and gave such a relaxing feeling. On the upper pool are there is an adult pool and an adjacent pool where children could enjoy. The latter pool is connected to the river pool which meanders to another pool in an area that is fairly quiet and secluded. If exiting the pool at this point, the pool slide is right there to take guests to the main pool. This pool is also amazing as it is very large with a smooth bottom. There is a large main area and several offshoots to wander into. Several bridges cross over the pool. There are many hidden hot tubs through out the area as well. My wife and I enjoyed sitting in a cabana by the upper pools and enjoyed reading a book, having lunch, people watch and sunbathe. The saltwater lagoon is also a great place to lay in the water or grab a lounge chair. We just enjoyed floating around and exploring the entire lagoon. It is a real nice feature at the resort.
We also enjoyed walking on the walkway between the hotel and the beach. Going to the right and around the point, sea turtles are swimming in the rough surf and popping their heads out of the water. They are quite large and enjoyable to watch. If going to the left, it is an beach called Shipwreck Beach. There is a cliff that many people jump or dive off of and it is interesting to watch. Climbing up is fairly easy and the views are spectacular. Do not be intimidated by the cliff or the two minute hike up to the top. It is so worth going up and looking at the beautiful scenery as the ocean is pounding the craggy coastline.
And what is a hotel without a great staff. The staff was fantastic. I was always greeted with an "Aloha" from every staff member I came in contact with. They are all so friendly and cheerful.
One of the best things we did was rent a hybrid vehicle from the kiosk in the lobby. It is so easy to use and the fee is only $15 per hour. Great way to get out and visit Waimea Canyon, Opaeka'a Falls and Wailua Falls.
If you are looking for a very relaxed atmosphere in a resort setting, this is definitely the place to be. There is little to no nightlife and the people of Kauai want to keep it that way. It is a simple way of life.

Room Tip: Book a room in the Shipwreck wing on a high floor
