We have stayed here many times and when these were new they had a huge WOW factor. Still they are very clean, have a full kitchen and most units are 2 bedroom/2 full baths. Flat screen TV in living room and both bedrooms, blender, coffee maker, microwave - fully equipped. The grounds are lovely and there are barbeques for the guests use as well. A huge Jacuzzi and a sandy bottom "pool" as well as a bar and "snack" bar adjacent to the pool. IF you can get a full ocean view unit - the WOW factor of seeing those amazing ocean vistas will take your breath away. You are also on the sunny south shore which is the place to be in the winter as the north shore of the island gets rain this time of year.
However if you are looking for a condo that you can open your door and jump into the ocean - this is Not it. You are on a bluff above the ocean and it is rocky - no beach. But Poipu beach is a 5-8 minute walk away and the Hyatt is a 3 to 5 minute walk. We walked to the Hyatt in the evening for their entertainment and cocktails. Tons of shops and restaurants at Kukui ula shopping village. Don't miss having a bite at the living foods market there - huge yummy portions and make sure you stop in Red Koi Collection - The most amazing "gallery" on island. They have everything from jewelry to paintings to sculpture. Enjoy :)

Room Tip: Ocean front Corner units !!!

I usually stay on the North Short of Kauai but stayed at The Point at Poipu this past week. I have never stayed at this resort & really enjoyed it. We had a ground floor corner unit which gave us a lanai on two sides of the room with glass doors to look out at the georgous grounds. The grounds are beautiful there. The staff are very helpful if you have any problems. I was disappointed with the pool. It isn't really deep enough to swim in. We sat out at the pool & read but I was looking forward to getting a good workout in the pool.

I don't think you would be disappointed if you stayed there. We are going to go back next year & stay there again. It was fun to try a new resort in a different side of the island.

Room Tip: I had to stay on the ground floor because of an injured knee & having to use a walker. You woul...

Positives - the property is lovely right on the bluffs with great views and excellent turtle watching.

Negatives - the rooms are a little tired, and maid service is once a week. My 2 big complaints - as this was a time share exchange, we had to sit through a 90 minute sales pitch. We were ushered into a room and basically harassed to buy a time share at the property. It was very unprofessional. Complaint number 2 - watch your bill - we checked out and agreed to pay all charges. I recently checked my credit card statement and there were another $150 in charges I am still waiting for them to explain. I would not stay at this property again given all the choices on Kauai and in Princeville.

This was our first visit to Kauai and our first time at The Point at Poipu. As owners in the Hawaiian Trust of Diamond Resorts, our expectations are pretty high and we were not disappointed. Accommodations were clean and comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. We look forward to staying here in the future and seeing the completed renovations, which we hope includes better insulation/noise deadening between floors. We would recommend The Point to everyone!

Room Tip: Stay on one of the upper floors if possible.

This has been our favorite place to stay in Hawaii. We are owners in the Diamond Resort Hawaii Trust, Every year we go to another island for a week and follow it with 1-2 weeks at the Point at Poipu. We are rarely disappointed. We arrived on 11/17 and stayed in an oceanview (6307) room for a week with 2 other adults (4 adults total). It was a great updated room with a very nice view of the ocean and good breezes. We then changed rooms for the next 3 nights to an oceanfront (6304). Have to admit we were a little disappointed in the oceanfront room; the master bedroom curtains were torn; the inside microwave light was not working; the ceiling light in the master bedroom was not working and we heard lots of chair dragging over the floor in the unit directly above us. I actually think that the unit above us was one of the sales rooms. Because of our short stay we chose to tough it out instead of calling the front desk. However...the fantastic ocean view along with the wonderful ocean breezes and breathtaking sunrise in the morning offset the issues noted above.

My husband and I have been owners for approx 10 years and we normally do the owners update every year. The concierge and sales staff were definitely not aggressive (compared to years past). Upon check in we received a Kauai dining discount card that provided for savings at local restaurants; i.e. free coffee with entree purchase at Joes on the Green, a 15% discount on food bill at Plantation Gardens and free Hula pie at our local favorite Keoki's to name a few.

As noted by other reviewers, Bldg 4 is currently under renovation but we were not at all bothered by the crews. Overall, it was another good stay. If you are looking for a peaceful Hawaiian experience, this place is for you. We appreciate the adults-only spa. The entire staff is absolutely wonderful....from the front desk staff to the staff that clean the grounds. You are always greeted with a smile and an aloha.

We have already made our plans for next year. I always request (well in advance) specific buildings and rooms but our request is rarely granted. Still trying to figure out how to get a requested room.......

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about your most recent stay here at Point at Poipu. We want to extend an even bigger thank you for being a part of our ownership family as well for these past 10 years. It was very concerning to read about the issues you had with unit 6304. If you had contacted our front desk, they would have looked into these issues as soon as they could, to make sure these issues were fixed. We hope that these issues did not have too much of a negative impact on your stay here. That being said, we will make sure to look into getting these issues fixed as soon as possible so it does not affect another future guest’s stay. In regard to your room requests, we try to handle each and every request equally and fairly for all of our guests, and we found it very concerning that your requests have not been granted. If you contact us, or our managing company’s Customer Service department, with your request for your next upcoming reservation, we will make sure to do everything we can to see about granting that request. Thank you again for taking the time in sharing your thoughts. We look forward to seeing you and your family again next year. Mahalo!

We had a great week at the Point. Brought 2 toddlers and they liked the pool, fish pond and easy access to the Hyatt's beach was perfect. The rooms are updated with nice flat screen TVs, and great wireless access for all the iPads and internet devices. The staff was tremendous, always polite, great daily activities for the kids too. No aggressive sales techniques either. I even got Ukulele lessons and a discount at the local store to buy one. Cons were the lack of an "ocean" view from the two rooms we had (had to change once). The walls are definitely thin. We heard every footstep of our upstairs neighbors. Would definitely return for Thanksgiving next year!

The resort was great. It had the perfect location. Out room was 8406 and we had a great view of the pool and ocean. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that wanted to visit Kauai and I would stay there again.
