Lovely view, probably best at dusk, but even at night it was a nice atmosphere. Good service, not particularly fast, which is okay since this is definitely not fast food. Pricy, but you will know that before you walk in. I had the macadamia nut chicken - it was good but not over the moon. My family though had the lavender encrusted steak and the mahi mahi and all said it was divine. It all looked pretty, and the chocolate cake was heavenly.

When we visit Kauai, we usually splurge once or twice on a nice dinner out. The past few times, we've splurged at Tidepools at the Grand Hyatt in Poipu. For $400, we had 2 bottles of wine, crab cakes for appetizer with a baby Romaine salad, the dinner special of NYStrip and South African Rock Lobster, the Opah for my husband, and a molten chocolate cake for dessert. We would certainly recommend Tidepools - but be prepared for the check! Our waiter was Dallas - who has been on the island for 20 years and knows the menu like the back of his hand. Great service.

Our table was perfect, open air and right beside huge Koi fish swimming by as we enjoyed yummy cocktails and dinner. We were dining with friends and tried several items from the menu. The fish is prepared perfectly either grilled or encrusted in wasabi and nuts ....terrific. We enjoyed the lobster bisque, pear salad and the Best Ever crab cakes !
We topped it off with chocolate coffee creme brûlée ...great meal in an Amazing Setting. Ask for a table by the water and enjoy the fish as you dine!

One of our favorite restaurants in Kauai. Start with the crabcakes--best anywhere. The ahi and the mahi mahi melt in your mouth. Great service and atmosphere.
