“The Butterfish is a Must”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 18, 2012

This is an old standby in Poipu. Order their butter fish and you have to like this restaurant. Service is competent and we had no problem in splitting a salad. When making a reservation, ask for the front room. Also, do not order a drink at the bar and plan to take it to your dining room table as you cannot due to local regulations. The wine list was reasonable for Kauai.

“Good restaurant with Pacific Fusion Style”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 12, 2012

The price is reasonable. Had an excellent hibachi cooked salmon and a wonderful cheesecake dessert. Surprisingly no bread was served with the meal and the initial salad I ordered was rather pedestrian. Service is very efficient. Overall a very good restaurant to frequent in Kauai.

“Fish was over cooked, Delicious Pina Colada”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2012

We greatly enjoyed their unique PIna Colada. The sample of appetizers were tasty. The mahi mahi fish was over cooked, which is very disappointing from a famous and not inexpensive restaurant. The fish in The Beach House and Pooltides taste much better. The beef ribs dish was tasty and the apple torte with ice cream was very good. Service was friendly .

“Great Restaurant - A bit pricey for what you get”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2012

Good restaurant. A bit pricey. The food was really good, but not quite worth what you pay for it. It felt like the price point was a grade higher than the food. There was nothing bad about it, but if I'm spending that much, I think I'll just spend a bit more next time and go to a true high-end restaurant. People vacationing on a budget may want to avoid this place.

“Exceptional food - Special Occassion Restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2012

All foodies will want to try Roy's at least once, whether in Poipu or other locations in Hawaii. The asian-fusion fare is a treat for the taste buds. Savor your meal slowly and you will pick up the complexities of each dish, it's sauce and accompaniments. Asking for a recommendation on wine pairing will steer you in the right direction. A good choice for that special occassion....even if that special occassion is simply your first or last evening on the island.
