All foodies will want to try Roy's at least once, whether in Poipu or other locations in Hawaii. The asian-fusion fare is a treat for the taste buds. Savor your meal slowly and you will pick up the complexities of each dish, it's sauce and accompaniments. Asking for a recommendation on wine pairing will steer you in the right direction. A good choice for that special occassion....even if that special occassion is simply your first or last evening on the island.

Delicious food, outstanding customer service, attention to every detail, this is what a GREAT restaurant is all about. Mentioned it was our daughter's birthday when making reservations, they asked for her name. Upon seating and opening our menus, a very special Happy Birthday personalized message was front and center. She was even served a special light and airy Pumpkin Panna Cotta dessert with a Happy Birthday message. Everyone was concerned with our satisfaction from the time of our arrival.

The staff, especially our waiter Pono, even paid special attention to our 3-year old grandson, as if he really mattered as much as the adults, getting down and talking to him at his level. The kids menu was outstanding, complete with starter, salad, beautiful main course, and dessert. This is something not often experienced in a higher end restaurant.

The food was fabulous, Opah, Filet Mignon butter soft, Beef Short Ribs. Salads you wanted more of - Roasted Beet and Arugula, and Compressed Watermelon salads. Had to order my favorite Roy's Melting Chocolate Soufflé, to die for.

When we were leaving, there was a bad thunderstorm and deluge of rain going on. The staff opened umbrellas and walked us to our car to help keep us dry. Amazing customer service and dining experience all around.

Tonight, my daughters best friend arrived on the island for her first Hawaiian and ocean experience. Our daughter insisted on bringing her back to Roy's so she too could experience the unbelievable service.

Many years ago when I first ate at Roy's on Maui, I brought 22 people back for dinner, it was that good. I ended up buying 11 cookbooks for all the couples to bring home. I've had the same experience on Oahu, so know this service is considered "regular" at Roy's restaurants.

I highly recommend this restaurant, or any of Roy's restaurants. THIS is what other restaurants should strive to be. Thanks Roy's, Pono, and staff, for making our dining experience so special.

Food here has some unique flavours. Their web site special prix fix menu is for their main land locations only.

Had a great dinner, food was delicious and service was polite and attentive. Tried some of their special drinks too. Really liked the dumpling appetizers and tuna appetizer. Fish duo was yummy but I think the best was the butterfish.

Not sure why the bad reviews on this one, it was a really nice dinner for us. Would go back again.

Good high end food but you definitely pay for it. The pupu (2 person Canoe) platter is quite good. The pork was unmemorable. The fish duo was nicely cooked. Pineapple upside down cake was good as well.

The service was very good.

We noticed several differences from the mainland restaurants and our server told us those were franchises while the ones in Hawaii are owned by Roy. IMO this creates some confusion for customers in that they may have expectations based on mainland experiences. For example there is no happy hour and they don't use Opentable for reservation (mainland does).
