We booked a week here with our two college aged sons as a last minute trip before school began for the fall. We always prefer a suite/villa arrangement where we have a common living room space and small kitchen. This gives us space to gather as a family rather than just retreating to our respective rooms. We also like the breakfast and snack flexibility and cost savings of having a kitchen.

Several reviews criticized this hotel for not having a "hawaiian feel". So we were prepared for not much. We were very happy with what we found. Our room was very nice, well appointed and comfortable. Parking was plentiful and not expensive at $10 per day. The grounds are beautifully landscaped. The pools are lovely and there are high quality grills if you want to bbq. Every employee we encountered was very helpful and friendly. Rooms have washer/dryers, beach towels, balconies overlooking beach or garden. The beach itself is gorgeous. Perfect for swimming, snorkeling, floating, surfing. We saw monk seals every day. Snorkeling was easy for beginners but with plenty of fish/coral variety. Poolside bar/grill was very good. Kahlua pork nachos were delicious!

Lots of great restaurants nearby. Easy drive to other beaches and Waimea Canyon. Overall, this was a great spot and good value for what we paid. We all enjoyed it thoroughly.

LOVED this resort, rented a two bedroom condo for a family of six. The condo is huge and has all upgrades possible. The master has a huge bathroom with jetted tub. The second bedroom had two queen beds with a bathroom also. The grounds have private hot tubs throughout the grounds, and bbq grills. This resort is beautifully landscaped!
The beach has a grill & drinks; also has a little rental shop with sunscreen, etc. The large heated swimming pool is directly adjacent to the beach. Stunning sunsets along the beach. The beach is Poipu Beach.
My actual date of travel was sept of 2008. The travel dates don't go back far enough.

Best family resort in Poipu,
We traveled here with out two boys for a week this summer and had a great time. The 2 bedroom condo we were in had an ocean view, was spacious, modern and consistent with the amenities Marriott has to offer. We didn't miss not having a restaurant on site but definitely enjoyed the Hanu bar and delicious Mai tais at sunset. Covered most of the island looking for other good snorkel spots; just outside the Marriott had the best snorkeling we found on the south, east and north side. The kids club activities were geared more to the younger kids (9 or so) but they did offer a parents night out so adults could have a couple hours of alone time. Accomodations were great, multiple pools for everyone to enjoy, a gym (which i never used), market for your basic essentials, ample parking Nd premier beachfront property. I will definitely come back with family or friends.

We are Marriott timeshare owners. Buying the one in Kauai almost caused a divorce. However, in hindsight I have to say it was the best thing we did. We use it every year and ask our daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter to come with us for 2 1/2 weeks. We stay for a few days at the Marriott in Lihue and then come to the Marriott at Poipu. We have been blessed and so fortunate to get one of the top units(which we thought we were buying to begin with) and because of this have truly enjoyed the experience. The resort is smaller by Marriott's standards which is a plus. The amenities are great. Love the "quiet pool". The location is exceptional. I only wish they had a restaurant on site. Thank goodness Costco opened on the island 4 years ago. What a perfect place to go immediately from the airport and load up on everything you need. Thanks Marriott for a wonderful experience.

We just spent a week here in a two bedroom oceanfront room. Yes, it is a little "shabby chic" but the view was great and we liked all of the activity in the pool area. The Honu Bar was great for lunch and we just parked ourselves on chairs on a grassy knoll in front of the bar and let the week melt away. There were a couple of things that need to be worked on but the staff was exceedingly friendly, we really liked the beach boys (and girls) , the security team and everyone at the front desk. We would return to the same place again. Now, things you will absolutely hate.....crazy chickens and roosters walking and crowing at will everywhere and toddlers with smoothies in the hot tubs! It's time to buy some food with chicken birth control thrown out to all of them and it is time to hire a couple of real live pool managers who chase children from the quiet pool and from hot tubs! We saw some dads with bad behavior jumping from the landscaping rocks and little bridge. SOOOOOO! Let's get some pool managers and make everyone follow the rules and keep the snack bar/bar open until 11pm. Would we go back? In a heartbeat! Loved the resort and Kauai!!

Room Tip: Everyone has a different idea of what an ocean view is but we were directly over the lobby and had a...

We took our 3 children to the beautiful island of Kauai this year. (June 2013) We had a ocean view deluxe room 1112 and it was perfect!!! My husband and I go back to Kauai every year and usually stay at a Marriott property, but this one by far is the best!!!! The staff is so courteous! Our room was incredibly spacious and very very clean! We had sleeping room for 10 people in this room! 3 beds and 2 pull out couches. (2 separate rooms both with full baths, kitchen and dining room, living room and washer/dryer) (They even supplied the Tide to wash clothing!)
We have been to Kauai more than 13 times and have never seen the rare monk seal! We did get to see 2 different monk seals that come on the beaches of the south shore to bask. Both were right on the Marriott Waiohai beach. We also saw a huge sea turtle come ashore to rest. The swells were quite big for this time of year on the south shore.
This property is walking distance to shopping and restaurants. (5 minutes off of the property)
We loved it so much we are going back again this coming year!!!

Room Tip: It seems that all room are in ideal locations! If you are going with children ask for a room near th...

My Mom, daughter, and I recently spent a week at this property and had a WONDERFUL time! Check-in is supposed to be at 3:00 p.m., but our room was ready at 2:00 p.m. They actually called our cell phone to tell us this, which was nice. We were very impressed with our 2 bedroom suite in Hale 1. We requested the top floor (level 4) and were in suite 1404. This was perfect because one of the bedroom walls backed up to an open air hallway and the elevator, so you didn't hear any people at night in a bedroom behind you. My Mom had her own room, I had mine, and my daugher (17) had the hideabed in the main living room/kitchen. This was perfect for us where we had our own spaces and privacy. My room had a huge soaking tub and a desk where I had my laptop. My mom enjoyed the other bedroom that had a couch and a washer/dryer.

We thought all the front desk workers were friendly and helpful. We liked how each day a different local artist set up a display of wares to sell. The snack bar, gift shop was just right. Some of the items they sold in there were ones we didn't see at any other shops on the island. Check out the "Kaui" doll ornaments in mumu's or grass skirts, and the Hawaiian coconut windchimes. The pina colada smoothies were excellent!

What we loved was the resort was full, but there was plenty of space on the beach and in the pools. We were able to find a beach chair each day with no problem. We especially enjoyed the "quiet pool" where you had Hawaiian music playing. At night, my daughter and I were sometimes the only ones in this pool and hot tub. We liked that the pools were open until 10:00 p.m. each night. This is a family place, so there wasn't a loud party atmopshere with drunks and people hooking up, which is nice (thoughts of the Monte Carlo Hotel in Vegas comes to mind from a different trip we had been on and were disgusted by).

The beds and pillows were so comfortable! We slept great and didn't hear any noise, even when we went to bed at 9:00 p.m. (we were used to our time zone which is three hours ahead). We could hear kids running down the halls in the daytime, but pretty much at 9:00 p.m. and after it was extremely quiet (which we liked).

Laundry detergent was provided, which was nice, and having free Internet was just what we liked so we could post daily pictures to our Facebook accounts.

We used the kitchen just a couple of times. There are many faulous restaurants close by, which I plan to review.

My Mom has been to this time share for 8 years now. This was my daughter and my first time. A week was just the right amount of time to relax and see the island. We don't know how we will be able to stay in a one room hotel room after this luxurious place!

On our last night, my daughter was walking on the beach close to sunset and saw a monk seal sleeping on the beach. This was a special sight for her. Oh, and the roosters, chickens, and birds all around just made us smile and laugh. How much better it was to hear a rooster in the morning instead of an alarm clock! The roosters never woke us up, but they are everywhere. We even saw a family of boars when we were driving!

I highly reccomend Marriott's Waiohai Beach Club and hope to return again with my mom and daughter in the future. And the week that we got home we went right to Sleep Country USA to buy new mattresses that were similar to the foam ones at this resort.

Room Tip: Ask for a top floor suite so you don't hear anyone walking above you.
