“Fine Dining???”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

Way over-priced for so-so food. The place is beautiful when you walk in, but that's about where it stops. You have a lovely view of the ocean but it is extremely expensive and in my opinion, NOT fine dining.

flat bread pizza and a shrimp dish served on a "local" slipper??? How is that fine dining? Burgers and tacos. They have the fine dining price but not the food to go with it.

Service was fair, a little slow.

“Great experience...Can't understand why so many bad reviews”
Reviewed August 25, 2012

I'll combine both my experience with the breakfast buffet and my dinner here into this review.

As for the breakfast, I found the food to be quite good, with a very wide array of choices from which to choose, including many atypical selections such as the Hawaiian fried rice and the eggs benedict made with the pulled pork. The pancakes were hot and fluffy, the pastries were tasty, and the wait staff was very attentive and came around with coffee and juice refills often. Granted, $23 is a bit pricey for a breakfast buffet, but since I was staying at the hotel, I had breakfast vouchers as part of my package, so that wasn't an issue. I don't know why one would go to a hotel breakfast buffet if they weren't staying at the hotel anyway, as I think they tend to be priced high no matter where you go.

As for dinner, this is where I found so many of the bad reviews most perplexing. First of all, I definitely was NOT hit in the face by a strong air conditioning. In fact, I found the atmosphere to be quite comfortable with great views. Yes, there is techno music playing in the background, but it was definitely not oppressively loud and, to tell you the truth, I pretty much didn't even notice it after a while. There were no problems with the service. While I felt that the waitress could have been slightly more knowledgeable with some of the culinary terms on the menu, she went out of her way to ask the chef about any specific questions we had. My wife, in fact, asked about the glaze on the Cast Iron Chicken, and the waitress went so far as to even bring out a ramekin of the glaze so that she could sample it before ordering the dish. (The glaze AND the dish itself were both delicious.) The food overall was excellent. I enjoyed the pork chop, which was incredibly moist and flavorful (The only pork job that I ever ate that was better was at Lupo in Las Vegas.) From a price standpoint, yes, it's on the high side, but not outrageously so, and no more than I would expect to pay for food of this quality and for a slightly more upscale-than-average restaurant as this. The prices, in fact, are no higher than nearby Brennecke's, which was billed by both one of the Sheraton concierges and a Kauai travel guide as being "reasonably priced." If you're considering eating here, don't be scared off by the reviews. You'll get a very good meal.

“Bring a sweater”
Reviewed August 25, 2012

Great views and service. FREEZING COLD! When we talked to other locals we were told, ya, we always bring a sweater when we go there. Some of the food was excellent(ahi & steak), other bland(salad). The wine selection was great. Overall a great place, just bring a sweater or jacket.

“Seriously over priced breakfast”
Reviewed August 25, 2012

We were very surprised that the ONLY breakfast choice of Sheraton guests (not counting the take out coffee bar), is a $23.00 per person breakfast buffet of mediocre quality. No single entre choices that allows a guest to eat appropriately to their needs. Rather you must spend $23,00 per person for a full buffet, whether you want it or not. ridiculous.

“over promised”
Reviewed August 15, 2012

spectacular setting and food was just ok, although the island cheesecake was well worth having. The Mai Tai's are GREAT, and so is the mango mojito.
