Description: RumFire Poipu Beach is Kauai's oceanfront hot spot, boasting a magnificent setting at Sheraton Kauai Resort on the island's south shore. RumFire's exquisite dining room is the perfect choice for a memorable dinner, artfully blending locally sourced cuisine with global influences. The broad, open-spaced restaurant and lounge is flooded with natural lighting from floor-to-ceiling windows, which also provide incomparable views of the Pacific Ocean and Kauai's stunning sunsets.

There are several "stations" available at the buffet. Made-to-order omelettes were very popular with our group, and there are about ten chafing dishes with eggs Benedict, scrambled eggs, bacon, ham, potatoes, etc. The sliced fresh fruit is outstanding, including papayas, strawberries, honeydew pineapple, etc. They even have beautiful yogurt parfaits.

My husband and I decided to give Rum Fire a try since it was a short walk from our condo. I called ahead to make a reservation and the hostess told me there was no need since it was "open seating." When we arrived at 8:00 we were asked if we had a reservation. Of course we didn't and ended up waiting for 10+ minutes.

Once we were escorted into the dining area I was surprised to see that the restaurant was at about 1/3 capacity. Overall the dining area gave off a strange vibe. It's as if someone picked up a restaurant in Vegas and plopped it down on the beach of Poipu.

Our waiter was very friendly but failed to give us the specials (which we heard a waitress describing to a nearby table after we had ordered).

I ended up giving Rum FIre 3 stars since the food was actually pretty good. I had the Bacon & Beets and my husband had the Pohole salad. We shared the Pipikaula Flat Bread which was good once we picked the strange, dry beef off the top and the sliders which my husband especially enjoyed. The RumFire Mango Mojito deserves 5 stars on it's own and the Scorched Strawberry...not so much.

I'm fairly certain that we will not be returning to Rum Fire during our next trip to Kauai.

We had dinner at Rumfire with another couple this past weekend. The first thing you notice was the blast of cold air as you enter the dining area. All of us were uncomfortably cold throughout the meal.
The lighting was so dim that our friends had to use their cell phone lites to read the menu. The menu is disjointed with entrees and tapas mixed under the same heading.
The ambiance was more of an upscale disco than anything else. There was nothing Kaua'i or Hawai'i about it.
Food was tasty, but why should we drop $200+ again to be so uncomfortable? We could have literally done better at any other restaurant in Poipu.

We were a bit concerned having read some quite negative reviews of this place but thought the menu was interesting so wanted to try it. The service we received was great from every one we came into contact with. The bar staff and our waitperson were very informed about the dishes and we couldn't fault them. Meal was tasty and well presented. Enjoyed the the atmosphere even tho it is enclosed...the views were lovely. Would go back.

The view/location is lovely. Four of us dined here during our stay and found the food to be average. Come for the bar and view. Steak was over charred, little options for vegetarian dining. We would rate our dining experience average and would not dine here again, but would stop in for a drink.
