Owner description: At team Sea Riders we pride ourselves in what makes us different from other companies. Kauai Sea Riders has been providing specialized small group Zodiac Eco Tours on Kauai since 2005. As a Marine Biologist, I have always focused on providing Eco Tours to our guests – focusing on education while at the same time having a great time. All of our staff are professionally trained and share the same passion and reverence for this amazing ocean environment we get to play in everyday! We choose snorkel locations that aren’t over crowded or common, and you will have a Divemaster guiding your snorkel adventure ensuring you have an exceptional snorkeling experience. At the end of the day, our goal is to have our customers feel that they have been expertly cared for, had an experience of a lifetime, and have learned something new about the ocean and its incredible inhabitants.

I just want start off by saying that Captain Tara is PHENOMENAL!!! Not only is she great with novices, but she is really great with kids. She was able to coax/convince my nervous 13 yr old son into getting in the water. By the end of the trip he was having a blast. She really took her time to explain everything to us & was vey patient. You can really tell that Tara loves what she does.

She educated all of us on local history, as well as what we would be seeing in the ocean. The tour is very fun, but the ride can be a little choppy, as you are riding in a navy seal type boat. It was a really great experience for our family and one that we will remember always. Thank you again Tara & Nick for a wonderful experience!

Having a snorkeling guide that is a Marine Biologist makes all the difference in the world. Captain Tara was so knowledgeable, animated and passionate while explaining about the local sea life. While on the South Kauai Snorkel Tour, Spinner dolphins followed alongside our boat, we swam with about 20 turtles, (one giant male was over 100 yrs old), did a "drift" snorkeling along an outter reef with lots of fish and saw a Hawaiian Cleaner Wrasse station. At one point, Tara grabbed the underwater camera off my wrist, dove down 15' under this ledge and snapped a picture of two turtles, Dolly and Molly, who she knew from experience would be napping in that location.

Being an experienced scuba dive instructor, Tara made sure all of our snorkeling equipment was perfectly sized and that we knew how to use it properly in the water. She led us around in the water like a mother hen, while keeping us constantly informed about what we were looking at. Her assistant, Rick, was also really helpful. We've been on other snorkeling tours where the guides behave like it's just another day at work, but Tara's enthusiasm made us feel like she's the luckiest person on earth.

Another great part of this trip was the 24' "Zodiac" type boat. My husband and I are Lake Havasu, AZ boaters and a ride on this boat looked like a lot of fun.....and it was! The boat handled much more smoothly through the swells than we had imagined and the ladder was really easy to use.

When we return to Kauai we plan on doing the Kauai Sea Rider's Na Pali Coast Tour and will also repeat this South Kauai Tour. You can't see too many turtles!

What a wonderful experience! In this era of commercialism, Captain Tara and her team are truly happy to be with you, and to help you experience the joy of their ocean home. Tara is a wonderful, kind and knowledgeable leader. She was excellent in interacting with every member of our group - from the youngest boy who was eight, to the teenage girls, to us big kids. It was a pleasure to watch her engage the group in her passion for the water and for the wonderful animals who make it their home. My sincere advice is that you skip the commercialism, and enjoy a truly special experience with a human being who cares, and who obviously lives life with a sense of joy and wonderment.

My husband, daughter and I chose SeaRiders for our Na Pali zodiac tour. From the website it was apparent that Capt Tara, a marine biologist, was knowledgeable and cares about conservation. I liked the fact that it's a small outfit, so we knew we'd get Capt Tara, and it was a great choice. She's passionate about all aspects of what she does including marine life, local stories, safety, and making sure her guests are comfortable and having a good time.

Soon after leaving the harbor, we came across a pod of spinner dolphins who put on a marvelous display of arching leaps, tail spins, jumping our bow wake, etc. Tara told us a great deal about them. The view up the Na Pali are incredible and in the zodiac we were able to go right up to the shore to get "blessed" by a waterfall, learn about some of the endangered shore birds, and go into a lava tube cave. We got lucky and were able to see a Hawaiian monk seal, sleeping on a beach. Tara is a wealth of local history and traditions in addition to the science (biology and geology). She has her own mooring by a sink hole where we snorkeled with turtles and viewed a variety of fish and coral. Lunch was sandwiches, chips, juice/water and cookies - there was plenty and it was tasty!

I highly recommend this tour!

Went on the snorkling tour with no experience ever doing it. Tara and her crew were amazingly comforting and patient with us snorkling newbies. The crew was very knowledgable and seemed to truly love their job. I liked the fact that not only did we get to see some marine life up close, Tara also taught us a little about what we were looking at. On top of all this, the sea turtles are absolutley adorable and amazing to swim with!
