We returned to Kauai after 20 years. Wow, what a wonderful gorgous island which still has the small town charm, very romantic and Aloha spirit.
We were very impressed with our one bedroom second floor condo at Castle Kiahuna Plantation. We had a tropical garden room with a nice view of the grounds and pretty landscaping. The beach is super in front of Kiahuna. We walked to great dinners at Roys and Keokis across the street in the cute shopping center.
The snorkeling at Poipu beach one beach east was very good. We had a monk seal sleeping daily on Poipu beach as well as Sea Turtle. There was a monk seal several days in front of Kiahuna too. They just lie there and enjoy the sun. Shave ice in front of the Beach House restaurant was Ono.
Special trips to Hanalei. We had a great Na Pali dinner cruise/whale watch through Sea Kauai Tours. We saw lots of whales, were in awe of Na Pali, the whales swam next to and under the catamaran.
We also went up to Waimea Canyon. Very pretty.
We would go back to Kauai and Kiahuna in a second
Aloha

Just returned from a wonderful week in unit #152 at the Kiahuna Plantation. Our condo had just been updated and was terrific. The owners obviously have good taste. The grounds are beautiful, the beach offers good snorkeling, and the management made checking in and out effortless. We found the condo on the internet and rented directly from the owners; they were easy to work with and responsive to all our questions. Whatever you do visit the National Botanical Garden. It is amazing and only 5 minutes from Kiahuna Platation....

We spent Xmas at the Kiahuna, the weather was fantastic! The talk about the "back buildings" is this; stay away from buildings 38 and 39. We had to move because the road noise (this is where people enter and exit the property) and the music from the restaraunt was so loud we couldn't sleep. We got moved to building 18 and it was fine. Do not shop at the Whalers General Store which is within walking distance, you'll pay way too much. Go to Safeway in Kapaa, well worth the drive. Go to Hanapepe for your gifts, they have lots of cute unique items at good prices. We will go back to the Kiahuna and as long as your not in building 38 or 39 you are fine.

We have stayed at the Kiahuna 3 times over the past 5 years. Every time we return to Kauai we decide that we just can't do any better than the Kiahuna. In large part because the beach access is wonderful, and the beach is definitely one of the best, or is the best on the island. We have been to about 20 different beaches and still maintain that opinion. Try to stay in units away from the road because the traffic and other guests get very noisy in that area.

We stayed for a week at Kiahuna Plantation for our honeymoon. We loved the view from our partial ocean view condo. Our room was on the third floor among the trees and flowers. We loved waking up to the sounds of the local roosters and other birds. The walk to the beach is a beautiful stroll through gardens. The Sheraton has a wonderful breakfast buffet next door.
