This was a great place to get a quick lunch. It doesn't look like much but was very good. They offer fresh fish tacos using different local fish.

Da Crack is a hole in the wall. Literally.

We ordered food from there 4 or 5 times during our visit to Kauai in early 2012, and picked-up a couple of burritos from there last night. It is just as worthwhile a stop as it was a year ago.

The burritos are big, maybe 2-3 pounds each, and they take up most of the space on a dinner plate. You have a choice of beans, rice (brown or Mexican), and free veggies that can be added. They really are a complete meal in a tortilla. Both the chicken burrito and their special shrimp garlic burrito were a perfect blend of flavors. All their burrito offerings are also available as tacos, or in a bowl for those looking to cut down on carbs.

There is often a line at Da Crack, and it might take 5 minutes or so before you are able to place your order, then another 10-15 minutes before your meal is ready. The wait is because nothing there is pre-assembled. It is hard to get freshly prepared food on Kauai for that price (about $8-$9 per person), so it is a good choice for the budget conscious.

There are a couple of benches at the small strip mall where Da Crack is located where you could sit and enjoy your food, but most folks take their orders away. They accept all credit cards as well as cash (some smaller places on Kauai only accept cash).

We'll be back at least a few more times this trip.

Yes, its that good. Da Crack is just a tiny mexican take-out restaurant with modern sensibilities. Very, very informal and casual place and you'll order at a window. Food is delicious and you can pick your ingredients, so for families like ours its perfect. Black beans or pinto beans, type of meat, vegetables - choice of cabbage, olives, onions, tomatoes, jalapenos, etc., corn or flour tortillas, and you can choose a burrito, taco, or bowl format. Food is very fresh and some evenings you'll be surprised that they are out of fish, pork, or other items. Unfortunately, they were out of fish tonight, but had a couple of killer garlic shrimp tacos with chipotle sauce. Modest wait and you can eat on the benches in front or take it back to you house/hotel. For a relatively inexpensive meal ($10), you can't go wrong.

Always liked the plate lunch place that used to be here. Now like the Mex carry out that took it's place. Got a schrimp burrito that was a meal by itself for about $10. Not servered with side dishes, everything is inside. Rice, cabbage, beans, etc. There were about 5 seasoned schrimp.

Soooo good - we had the fish tacos and burritos. Once again, follow the locals to find the best places to eat! Wish we would have found it earlier in our stay.
