“Great spot for a delicious, fresh breakfast!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2011

We ate breakfast here on two mornings. Everything was cooked to order, hot and fresh. The ingredients are local and tasted like it. Breads are fabulous. They bake on site. Get there early for fresh croissants and muffins.

“Great for quick grocery run and snacks.”

Stopped in because it was less than a mile from our condo; the cheese and bread selection is great for a picnic stop before heading to the beach. Coffee was excellent!

“Excellent food, portions are too small”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2011

Living Foods is one of our go-to breakfast and lunch spits in Kauai as they care about the quality of their ingredients and it shows in dish after delectable dish. Some of our favorites are the poached eggs (well, really only 1 egg) with proscuitto, blueberry pancakes and smoked local shrimp wraps. Whenever possible, they use products locally grown on the islan, their Kauai Farm eggs are to-die for as is the local grass-fed burger. However, even a light eater such as myself am appalled by the outrageously small portions....unless you order 2 items you will leave hungry. With that said, it's still a better deal than the grub they serve at most hotel buffets and certainly much tastier (try their espresso using beans they roast themselves). If they offered more realistic portions, they'd earn 5 stars from me.

“Great fish tacos - a little overpriced”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2011

The fish tacos were great here, and they were even prepared well in my take-out box. Some of the best I tried in Kauai this last trip! I would definitely go back to get them, though they were a little pricey for lunch ($12-14 range).

The store itself is something of a Central Market-style grocery store - very pricey, organic and alternative foods and groceries. It was fun to browse while waiting on my food.

“Extremely disappointing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 19, 2011

We got take-out from Living Foods tonight and were extremely disappointed by the quality and taste of most of the items (especially given the price and hype). We purchased a roasted eggplant salad, a tabouleh salad, a roast chicken, rosemary & raisin foccaccia, and a roasted beet salad, . The eggplant salad was nothing special -- we could have made this better ourselves. The tabouleh salad was so dry that we were lucky our condo had some vinegar on hand. The roasted chicken actually tasted bad, and we're still wondering why -- how hard is it to make a yummy roast chicken when starting with a local, free-range bird? (and when you have an award winning chef as an owner?). The foccaccia was stale. The one saving grace was the beet salad, which was good (but again, nothing we couldn't do just as well if not better in our own kitchen). At nearly $40 for these items, we are left with an extremely bitter taste in our mouths.
