The ship you see in the guides was reclaimed by the sea a few years ago according to a local we spoke to on this beach. So it is a nice beach but what makes it worth the trip to see is a path to the left through the trees up a hill. There is a 'trail' that goes up and o the cliff side where local go to reef beaches for fishing. The path takes you by some spectacular views of the coast and the shelf fishing that I have not seen before. Stay clear of the walking up to close to the edges they are ' shelves' and could break away but the trail is on solid ground and even a quick 10 min walk will be worth the views.

I prefer the more secluded beaches so this beach was fairly secluded. We had to drive through the Hyatt into the back and there was a parking lot that leads to this beach. It was very scenic and beautiful, a must see.

however the water was super choppy, and i'm not a strong swimmer so i chose to stay out of the water. although many many people were able to be in the water.

After a couple miles of dirt road driving you are rewarded with a scenic beach with beautiful white sand crescent, and the room to walk down it for seclusion. Swam, watched the sunset and felt transported back 100's of years. Really loved it.

This is where Harrison Ford and Anne Heche in "Seven Days and Six Nights," took their famous plunge into the ocean to escape the pirates. If you first go through the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Poipu as a first stop and see their magnificent atrium and grounds and then head down to the beach, it is even more enjoyable. It is not a swimming beach but one can walk it's length, walk in the surf and see the tidepools. There are plenty of places to seat and stare out at the ocean or jsut admire the beauty that surrounds you.

Very few tourists will use this beach, if conditions are always as they were when I was there. Huge waves, undertow, rips, buzzing surfers and boogie boarders. A kid told me "Don't worry, there's rocks, but they're smooth. Yeah but they're still HARD.Not many in here over the age of 22.
