sezchuan beef was excellent. orange chicken was pretty sparse. the pad thai was nice (we had both chicken and shrimp). tempura was average at best. the restaurant is visually appealing, but for the price, the take out was average at best.

Our friends, who are frequent visitors to Koloa, arranged a dinner for four couples. In a word, disaster. We were greeted and seated quickly (had reservations) and it went completely down hill from there. We all ordered drinks at the same time, one couple got thier glasses of wine quickly, while I sat there and waited 30 mins for a martini! A bottle of wine for another couple also took 30 plus minutes. The martini was watered down and was sent back. Soup and salad (though Watercress Salad was good) took additional 50 minutes to arrive AFTER waiting 30 minutes for drinks! We are 1 1/2 hours into this ordeal. After watching our waitress stand around texting on her phone, we called the manager over who offered some phony apology with no explanation for the shoddy service. She had two tables to wait on the 3 hours we had to sit there. Finally, over two hours in our dinner arrives. Tempura Lobster had two small chunks of lobster and a bunch of under cooked vegitables (raw batter) with the most bland dipping sauce imaginable. Schezewan Beef was barely warm and much of the meat was fatty. Most any Chinese strip mall take out will blow this pretentious joke of a restaurant out of the water.

We really looked forward to a return visit after our last wonderful experience over a year ago and it was a bit of a disappointment this time. Not sure if they changed chefs or what happened but it is definitely different. 1st, we were asked if we had a reservation (which we did not) and were told it would be at least 15 min to be seated. Not a problem but seemed odd since it was less than 1/2 full. We chose to sit at the bar and were served promptly by a friendly and attentive bartender. What perplexed us is that only two other couples came in during our entire meal and the tables they weren't able to seat us at remained empty. Back to the food-for appetizers we had the edamame with a spicy hoisin sauce-delicious-and potstickers which priced at $14 were only OK and there were 3 in the order served with an overly fishy sauce. The orange chicken was what we came for though and it just wasn't the same, not as prominent of a fresh orange flavor and some of the pieces were chewy. We would try it again though, this may have been an off night and when it's good, it can be great.

it seems like every time we try to eat here it is closed...we have gone 2x now. Yummy, authentic Asian cuisine...spicy. Service was hit and miss.

This was one of our favorite restaurants while in Kauai. It is relatively convenient, despite being on the Grand Hyatt resort, so even if you aren't a guest here, don't be worried.

The menu is wonderful - we had the Poke, which was absolutely fabulous, the Pad Thai noodles with chicken, and the Lobster and Shrimp dish. Everything was amazing! Our server was very knowledgable about the menu, and being gluten free. It was definitely a change from some of the other restaurants we had visited.

Definitely give Yum Cha a try!
