We spent 5 nights at a partial ocean view 7 nights at an ocean view. The beach there is excellent and you really do get a sunset view and the hotel pools were nice. Be aware that staying across the road from the main buildings feel like you're in a different hotel, although still pleasant, the pool area was deserted. We had requested a king bed through Expedia but were put in a double room. I called to see if they could move us to a king but it took 3 days for them to get back to us about a move. They upgraded us to an ocean view king eventually so that was nice. Staff were friendly, the breakfast is overpriced but decent quality. The quality of the rooms were good but feeling a bit plain for the price. You would expect a 'Sheraton touch'. A visit to the Grand Hyatt down the street makes you feel like you're royalty even if you're not staying there!

Room Tip: The Ocean wing of the ocean view rooms affords sunset views and a quiet evening, rather than the Bea...

The view at this hotel is AMAZING. It is right on the ocean, with a fantastic beach. We stayed in a King Deluxe oceanfront room, with a large balcony, and just amazing views. If you stay at the resort, absolutely upgrade to an oceanfront room. The room itself was also nice - we were on the top (4th) floor with very high ceilings, and lots of room with a table, mini fridge and lots of room for luggage. The room and resort were also very clean.

The good ends there though.

The bathroom was extremely outdated and shabby, complete with a large rust spot in the bath tub, and peeling paint all over. The bathrooms need some updating.

Service (both at the front desk and the restaurant servers) was very disapointing. Restaurant service was very slow and both the front desk and restaurant servers seem annoyed with any questions.

The hotel is in a beautiful area, and we'll definitely go back, but we won't stay at the Sheraton.

We spent 9 nights at this resort, 4 in a partial ocean view and 5 on the ocean, and thoroughly enjoyed them. The resort is very well located with an excellent beach and within a short walk to the two main restaurant and shopping plazas. This is important becaues the hotel restarants are expensive and not of great quality.

Our first room was in building 3 with a partial ocena view- standard hotel size and quite pleasant.

We moved to an ocean front room halfway through our stay in building 1 and it's the one I would recommend most. It was a larger room with a big soaker tub. The view was absolutely great with little traffic outside. It was quite quiet. The other ocean view option - building 2 - overlooks the pool so will have a lot ore traffic and noise. If you want a garden view room I would still suggest building 1. It overlooks a pond and the entrance but the view is quite nice.

The rooms both had the quietest air conditioners I've ever experienced in a hotel. The beds were very comfortable so the combination of cool air and great bed made sleeping excellent.

As I mentioned above the hotel restaurants are seriously lacking and over priced. I'll do a separate review of them but you should know that there are breakfast, lunch and dinner restaurants within a short, and pleasant, walk away.

The workout facilities are very nice with multiple pieces of each equipment so not a problem to get access. You can get head hpones at the front desk for the equipment.

The pool is great and the area around it has lots of chairs for sunning. We chose to rent cabanas as the sun was very intense even in February when it wasn't raining.

We feel the resort provided value for the money and would consider it again should we come back to Kauai.

Room Tip: Best value is building 1 ocean view although building 1 garden view would also be nice. Third floor...

I am staying there right now ocean front. We have stayed at the Grand Wailea and the Westin -ocean view-in Maui last wk and I love this place just as much or more. The walk to the beach was much longer esp the Grand Wailea. The views here
are amazing, staff incredible beach terrific......no coachroachs at all!!!! How sad to write a review like that. The only thing I would like is more umbrellas with lounges chairs by the pool to block the sun as they get taken early. Otherwise....heavenly. My son stayed at the Grand Hyatt and commented how nice our room was and fabulous views. The ocean at the Hyatt looked pretty dangerous and not safe to swim but the resort is gorgeous.

Room Tip: Ocean front is worth it!

On my third visit to the Sheraton Kauai due to its location and amazing beach, I requested an upgrade from my ocean view room assigned ( which I later learned was across the street and not on the beach at all!). When I arrived, all ocean buildings were full due to an area convention, but the receptionist discovered that Elaine L, manager, had indeed upgraded my room earlier to 4th floor in the Ocean building #1. I had requested a top floor view where it was quieter. Thanks to Elaine, my first trip on my own, sort of a retreat, was paradise !! The view of the sunset was fantastic, and I could hear the waves pounding in day or night. It was always easy to get a beach chair and a drink right on the beach. The luau had the best cultural dancers ( as good as Smith's Luau!), much better than the Hyatt's luau, although the food wasn't quite as good. Service was great and I especially enjoyed the helpful valet parking guys! I keep going back to the Sheraton since it doesn't seem as crowded or commercial as the other areas resorts, yet it has unbeatable beauty and ambience! Thanks again, Elaine :)

Suggestions: 1) Have screens on the balcony sliding doors so they can be open at night without wondering if lizards or bugs will come in. 2) Have more variety on the continental breakfast as you used to have in the prior location. I loved having the breakfast included in the price, but it was hard to have poached or scrambled eggs, bacon, and potatoes every morning for the hot meal. The waffle iron was great, however!

Room Tip: The ocean view building #1 was quiet with great views and very clean. A few people who stayed in the...

I could mention the killer ocean view, the nice grounds, friendly staff, etc., but all that means nothing because our room last week was infested with cockroaches, one the size of a mouse. There's just no excuse for such a state, particularly with what an ocean front room costs at the Sheraton. Plus, the bathroom floor and tub were grubby the whole eight days. I cannot recommend this resort.

Room Tip: Room 1316 has a good ocean view.

Aloha KayinCal,

Thank you for choosing Sheraton Kauai Resort and for sharing your recent experience. We are sorry to hear your stay did not meet your expectations despite the great views, grounds and friendly staff that you noted. The resort takes pest control very seriously and conducts a diligent maintenance program. However, due to our location in a tropical environment, rare instances of insects in the room may occur, and we appreciate you indicating your room number so that we may investigate further. Again, we are truly sorry that your stay was unsatisfactory, and we invite you to connect with us to discuss your visit further. Mahalo.

Very large hotel, lacked in guest parking and dining options. Good location, next to Poipu Beach. Front desk staff friendly and helpful. Housekeeping inconsistent. Two tennis courts available - only one with a net and both suffering large cracks. Claims badminton available, but no net or court to play on!? Rooms were comfortable, as you would expect from a Sheraton, good internet access. We stayed with points, so minimal cost, not worth the rack rate.
