“Nice stay but quite pricey”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2014

Found this resort to be average but very expensive for what it was. I think one can do better in a small condo where you would have the ability to make some of your own meals. The food we had on site was just okay, nothing special. The kids enjoyed the beach and the pool. I was glad to stay in Poipu over Princeville though, as the couple of times we went up to Princeville it was raining and sunny in Poipu. Wish the beds would have been two queens instead of two doubles. I am not sure why the Sheraton and Westin often have the two doubles, when most of their rooms could easily accommodate two queens and be so much more comfortable for the guests.

Room Tip: If you cannot get afford a room by the ocean, get a room overlooking the pool

My friend and I stayed here for a week in December. The resort was lovely with beautiful grounds and a gorgeous beach. The waves were quite rough this time of year which made for fun ocean swimming, however we were still able to snorkel a bit further down, right off the beach. The pool area was great, with plenty of beach chairs available. We enjoyed the scheduled activities, such as the morning yoga sessions, the hula dancing lessons, the fresh lei making and the evening tide pools. Our room was clean and nicely decorated. We had an issue with our drain and light, however maintenance was quick to arrive and remedy the problem almost immediately. The hotel is in a great location, just a 10 min walk to the main Poipu beach as well as both Poipu shopping complexes with lots of restaurant selection. There was also a small grocery store within walking distance (across from the fire station) which was perfect for us as we did not rent a car. We were able to get a good deal on this hotel using Hotwire, which I would recommend as it may not be the best value for your money if paying the standard rate. The only negative I would say is that when checking in, as a young, single female (as I arrived prior to my friend), I did feel a bit discriminated against as I was asked to show my ID twice, initially which is standard, but once again after I had received my key just to 'double check' that my information was correct. This put a bit of a bad taste in my mouth when interacting with the front desk staff for the remainder of my trip. Overall, however, it was a great stay and I would recommend this hotel to others.

We stayed a week in Princeville on the North Shore of Kauai. One day we made a trip to the South Shore for a hike, and were able to maximize our day there with a day room at the Sheraton, for 1/3 the price, and then did it once again, before our 11pm flight since Sebastopol check out of our place at 10am. The hotel is beautiful, right on the beach, Lava's was one of our favorite places for lunch!

Very nice "large" resort with great beach! This side of the island is a much better area to stay in. We stayed in Kapaa years earlier and was not as impressed with beaches or traffic. Pools here were really nice along with all the amenities offered. The rooms were nice except for shower/toilet area.... It was quite small! Was overall pleased with this resort :)

The hotel is on one of the better locations for resorts on Poipu Beach that we visited. We happened to stay here because other resorts were booked, and are very happy with the area.

The hotel is a bit older, but the accomodations are good. It has one of the better sandy beaches if you wanted to go into the water barefoot. A short walk away are coral reefs full of fish, eels, and even a snake we saw while snorkeling. Off the coast we could even see whales from our room in the morning and evenings.

The restaurants are a bit expensive. The food is still pretty good and we enjoyed the drinks we had.

Unfortunately, if you don't have a car, travel in the area is lomited, but we still walked around. It just meant walking on the shouldlder for a bit.

The hotel has a nice pool, shallow pool, and hot tub within maybe 100m of the ocean without anything obstructing your view.

Hotel has beach equipment available for rent. surfing classes were available and enjoyed just up the beach.

Nice and cozy. Parking is not convenient. Disappointed they did not offer me any help with my luggage. The restaurant rum fire was good. Breakfast buffet was pricey. Fire pits were nice place to watch the sunset.

Just spent two glorious weeks here over Christmas and New Year's and are counting the days until we return next year. The service was incredible, from check-in to pool services to valet to concierge. Everyone was amazingly friendly, helpful, and efficient. We travel frequently, both for business and leisure--often internationally--and we can't remember experiencing better service. We stayed in room 2409 overlooking the pool and it was large, well-designed, and beautifully decorated. One reason we love Starwood is because you can count on a comfortable bed and this was no exception. The food in all the restaurants was delicious as well. They offer free shuttle service to nearby restaurants and shopping and free bikes for short jaunts around the neighborhood. We loved every minute and made our reservations for next year within a day of our return!
