Hands down, the best resort my husband & I have ever stayed at. We spent the first part of our vacation at the Koa Kea before moving to a condo on the north shore. We missed the Koa Kea so much, we checked out of our condo early to go back.
We will definitely be back!

First off Kauai is awesome! Be sure to take a helicopter tour...

My wife and I stayed at the Koa kea 6/8-6/14. Overall, we were happy with our experience.
Positives: Clean rooms, nice beach, great location, comfortable beds, nice big shower, most of the staff was friendly, NO CROWDS!
Negatives: No bathtub, about one days worth of coffee, hot comforter on bed, good but not great service, pool side lounge chairs were uncomfortable
All in all, Koa Kea is a great hotel for those seeking privacy and relaxation. However, do not expect the service or luxury of a Four Seasons. But don't expect the crowds of the Four Saeasons.

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. We loved every minute of it! The room was large and comfortable. The bed was amazing and we slept with the patio door open (screen door shut) every night and you could hear the ocean as you fell asleep. We had a "garden view" which was precisely that! Our patio had a table with two chairs and a chaise lounge which overlooked a small lawn and landscaping. The bathroom was very luxurious, as well. Housekeeping came 3 times a day, including turn down service in the evening. Also you get a free bottle of Fiji water each day! My husband loved that!

The restaurant there is arguably the best on the island. The staff there made us feel welcome even though we obviously weren't high rollers. The food is pricey but boy was it worth it! They even split the $48 steak for us so we each had half a steak and fries, which was more than enough! We recommend the Root Beer Float for dessert! Try eating at the bar for a more relaxed atmosphere!

We took advantage of the resort spa while we were there and we had a very relaxing couples massage. The mousses were very friendly and great at their jobs! We also rented some beach gear and took surf lessons through the resort. All were fantastic! Chris, our surf instructor, was great and each of us had a couple successful waves!

My husband and I stayed at the Koa Kea for 7 nights as part of our honeymoon trip. We choose the hotel based on the reviews on trip advisor and were not disappointed. The staff is what makes this truly a 5-star hotel. Everyone from the valet guys, front desk, housekeepers, etc were friendly and super helpful with anything you asked for. The valet staff was especially sincere and always had recommendations for restaurants or things to do. We received a complimentary upgrade from the garden-view room we booked to a partial-ocean view (next to the Plantation condos). The room is tastefully decorated and felt very homey. The bed was the most comfortable. The hotel was about 10 steps to the sandy beach where the snorkling was decent and you could easily find a spot on the beach. We had lunch once at the beach bar...nothing special..but good. If you are looking for peace and relaxation, this is the hotel for you.

I have 20+ years experience in the hotel and restaurant business, and I just signed up with Trip advisor expresssy so that I could write this review. Literally everyone we encountered at this hotel was a service pro at the highest level, if service were an IQ, they are all geniuses. The decor is gorgeous, the food at Red Salt is very good, and the location and amenities are great. Service encounters with the front desk, the valet parking, and the restaurant and bar staff were BEYOND!! The bartender who seved us dinner on the night of 6/8 was a master class on how to take care of a guest. I loved this resort and will absolutely be going back.

Beautiful hotel and beautiful location. We loved the fact that it was quiet, very few people staying at the hotel. Extremely clean and staff service was excellent. Gym is decent, could have had a few more pieces of equipment. The hotel restaurant, the Red Salt, left a lot to be desired. Separate review will be done for that. My wish list to give this a higher rating would be: self parking, and listen to all the reviewers who feel that the coffee service is poor. The room rate is high; at least give us coffee without charging. If Hilton, Hyatt, Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton provide coffee at rates lower than yours, give us coffee please. Additionally, I complained about ants in the bathroom 3 times, never did get it resolved nor did they offer a rate reduction on the room.
