Owner description: The Hawaii Alive Luau Show is an outstanding show that brings you a unique and authentic Polynesian cultural experience through live traditional chants, music, drumming and dancing from the islands of Hawaii, Tahiti and Samoa. The show is located within the Marriott's enchanting tropical gardens and includes live music, an interactive host, traditional and modern hula, ancient chants, a chance to learn the hula yourself, Tahitian dancing, and the thrilling Samoan fire knife. We also offer optional private dining prior to the show, which you can enjoy with just your family or guests in the open air at the Kaua'i Marriott's Kukui oceanfront restaurant.

I can't imagine why anyone would give this show anything less than an "excellent." It's a family run show that has entertained many celebrities, including John Wayne, for decades. You can't beat that! The master of ceremony gave the audience a very genuine welcoming, explained a little history of Kauai and introduced his nephew and son, two musicians in his band. It's an hour long nonstop cultural cornucopia that includes several hula, Samoan fire knife dance, Tahitian dance and live musicians. In the middle of the show, members of the audience volunteered to go on stage to perform some hula. What a nice touch! This show is perfect for couples, friends, and family and really worth the money ($50 per person). It's located in the beautiful Marriott Resort in Lihue (near the airport) and while we weren't staying at the resort, parking for nonguests is available for free. We skipped the actual luau dinner (an extra $50 per person) after reading some negative things about it and ate dinner at a nearby restaurant.

This is not the spectacle you may get at the larger, buffet-style venues. But the performances are authentic and the setting is much more intimate. If you are staying at the Marriott, it is not only convenient but just a great way to absorb a little Hawaiian culture and appreciate the beauty of the islands and their people!

Pretty good but with some caveats I must say. I quickly found out about this venue on short notice. It is done at the Marriott hotel in Lihue which is near a very nice beach.
There is a food or show only option, but we were offered both for a discount on short notice with included valet parking.

My rating focuses solely on the show. Quick tip, skip the dinner, it's made for easy comfort and is not anything really specially plus you are not going to get a pig pit here or anything real authentic.

The show starts off in an open seated courtyard. While waiting one eager young guy entertains the crowd but doesn't get too obnoxious.

The performance starts off with 3 band members who sing about 3 songs. They first were not really gelling, but once they sang they got their bearings. It is a bit loungey but at least they can sing. The bass player Barto? B something particularly has a very good voice.

The real treat though are the dancers. Are they the best ever? Obviously not but they care about the art and their enthusiasm shows, as once the level of speed increases the sweat really starts pouring off them.

They also have child performers, and this is not some cute small chaotic school play, the actually dance very well and sync excellently. And yeah ok they are as cute as hell also.

The fire dancing is great also, and the fact you can sit up front to experience this is a treat. At times I could feel the heat from the torches.

Is this authentic? Not really? Is this the best luau ever? Probably not.. But the dancers are great and its a comfortable if "staged" setting.

Fantastic show...............high energy performances by all the dancers. Great venue (Kauai Marriott), everyone is within approx. 30 ft of the performance...You can't get closer than that!
Friendly atmosphere. Take all the pictures/video you want and share them with friends back home.
If you're smart, you'll see this show!
