We were staying at the Marriott and this is an ok beach for a hotel. Nothing excited but it did have clean sand and the water was nice.

The water was nice for swimming. The beach is close to a bar so that is nice. There's volleyball courts on the beach. Lots of people surfing and paddle board. We had some nice surf on the day we were there. Also, there is some shade which is always good.
It's a nice place but if you only go to 1 beach in kauai, don't go here. there are nicer beaches near poipu IMHO

kalapaki beach has evertything but the clean blue water that is hawaii. it sits on an inlet where the criuse ships come in, so the debris from the ships cannot wash out easily. i hear east coasters here complain that the hawaii water is not as beautiful as the caribbean..well, if you compare to kalapaki, you're right. but the rest of hawaii beaches are bluer and MUCH cleaner.
if you want blue hawaii, go elsehere...almost anywhere but here.

Kalapaki Beach is near the Nawiliwili Kauai Pier...You can walk from the ship--but why not take the FREE SHUTTLE-- it runs every 15 minutes--- I am telling you this is a gorgeous beach-- the Marriott is a 1st Class resort-- we didn't stay there of course but we walked through the gardens and looked all around the hotel--- took many photos--Check out the pool area --- WOW---
-the beach is relaxing and the mountains are in the background and also the ship-- nice photo Opportunities........................The closest shopping to the dock in Nawiliwili is located at Kalapaki Beach about 1/2 mile from the ship. It is within easy walking distance --but you can take the beach shuttle -- little shops are expensive but nice to look
