Owner description: Jack Harter is the Originator of Helicopter Tours on Kauai. Coming to Kauai in 1962, Jack began offering helicopter tours and charter flights with a focus on safety and quality. Jack's dedication to these important qualities is carried on by the company's hand-picked pilots and ground crew staff that are dedicated to continuing Jack's founding principles. The company offers scenic tours in two types of helicopters: Jack Harter Helicopters' luxurious 6-passenger Eurocopter AStar helicopter features huge floor-to-ceiling windows, BOSE noise-cancelling headsets, air-conditioning, and a cabin layout that has no physical obstructions to viewing the scenery outside. For the more adventurous, their 4-passenger Hughes 500s are flown with the doors removed. There is no luxury in the Hughes 500, but the doors-off flight is very cool! (Double meaning intended!) We ask you to be aware that there are WEIGHT LIMITATIONS for all helicopter tours. The 2 front passenger seats in BOTH helicopter types have more restrictive weight limits, so the SMALLEST PASSENGERS ON ANY GIVEN TOUR ARE USUALLY SEATED IN THE FRONT SEATS. Please look at the company's website to view the aircraft seating diagrams. The company's 60 and 90-minute tours feature Kauai's beautiful Na Pali Coast, the spectacular Waimea Canyon, numerous waterfall-filled valleys including the Hanalei Valley, and Mt. Waialeale, one of the wettest places on earth.

Our group of four booked a closed door helicopter ride over Kauai and no one was disappointed. Of course the scenery was the major attraction but the pilot, Jason, made the experience top notch. His knowledge of Kauai as well as his ability to pilot the helicopter left nothing to be desired. He was extremely attentive to moving around so that everyone - front seat, back seat, right and left side passengers could get a full view of wherever we were. Would definitely take this trip again, and again and again.

We thoroughly enjoyed the doors off experience, the views were amazing. The pilot was excellent, and shared lots of great information. Ground crew were friendly and efficient in getting to/from the helicoptor.
Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!

My husband and I debated most of our trip if we should spend the $$ for this. In the end we were so glad to have done the 60 minute doors off tour in the Hughes 500. We've both been up in choppers before so that wasn't the issue. It was a great experience - the highlight was flying into the Wai'ale'ale crater. A real spiritual experience. So much of Kauai is inaccessible otherwise. Pilot was very good at his narration w/o going overboard and allowed us all time to chat back and forth. Only bummer was one of the four passengers has to be up front in the middle and that was me so I didn't get an open door or window but that was fine. We'll be talking about this for years!

My toes were cramped from gripping the floor of the door-less helicopter! I was terrified and thrilled the entire time. The ONLY way to see the all-over beauty of Kauai. The endless waterfalls and cliff faces are something I have never seen anywhere else. (At least those not covered in ice...) Also a great way to see the Kalalau trail. We even saw a whale. I was wondering if perhaps our pilot (Kelby) was suicidal but it turns out he was just highly skilled. He wasn't bad to look at either. The doors off thing just heightens everything. I felt sorry for people flying in heli's with doors. Or those flying in the planes. There are no bad seats. My daughter sat in the front middle and every other seat is on the edge. 60 minutes of shear incredible-ness. I may have to have a glass or two of wine to ever do that again but it is definitely a once in a life-time, bucket list thing to do. As was usually the case with everyone on Kauai, friendly staff.

Flew with them twice several years ago. Very impressed. This time on the open copter with Craig as our pilot. AMAZING flight. Craig personalized everything for us and was incredible. Wonderful flying experience for those afraid to fly...no feeling of butterflies on take-off or any other time. Always mentioned when we'd feel bumps, but half the time we never felt them.
Really the best flying experience. No one else has the open sides for photography and the views were far better than what we've seen from other services.
