The service is quick and the food is good. For the price it is one of the better deals on the island. After reading reviews I was expecting too much maybe? It is solid diner food, nothing spectacular. We got there early so no waiting but after 20 minutes there were a lot more people. So best to get here early or don't mind the a wait.

Banana Pancakes Anyone? How about Pineapple or Macademia Nut? This place has wonderful pancakes, good coffee, and pretty good omelets. Their ox-tail soup is supposedly really good, but didn't try it. It's in Lihue, not far from airport. Be prepared to wait for a seat on the weekends, but they're pretty fast with getting people seated, families too. Don't expect amazing ambience (it's located in an old motel). Think cafeteria looking. But hey it's great for families and easy on the pocketbook. It's a couple blocks off the main drag (50/51? cannot remember which one).

we were recommended this place. told it was where the locals eat. well now we know why!
Fair prices and healthy portions we decided to live like an islander. I had the loco moco which is eggs, over rice and a beef patty smothered in brown gravy. honestly it was awesome!

my husband threw caution to the wind and ordered spam with his eggs. he loved it!
the place was rockin' when we arrived ,we were greeted promptly. the food came quickly. we were very pleased.
tip top is a little tricky to find but just keep circling and follow the traffic. you will find it and be rewarded for your diligence.

Years ago when Kauai was way less paved over, there was an unspoken tradition you always stopped for a pre-departure breakfast at the Tip Top, and you had to order the pineapple macadamia nut pancakes. But, they were not actually on the menu. You had to know the secret.

Had skipped the place the last time or two and don't know why, but made the effort to get back this trip. The pineapple macs are now printed right on the menu and are just wonderful in a local Kauai sort of way. Better than we remembered, so we went back a second day. My husband ordered their slightly-different interpretation of a loco moco and liked it almost as well. We wished we would have gone back still again and tried still more of the menu. Next time!

(It's local--but unlike many places you can charge it. It's dinerish at best, it's usually packed, and parking is hard to come by. Romance may be in negative numbers. But still highly recommended for breakfast).

Came here for breakfast but it was too late they started serving lunch. So when in Rome do as what the Romans do... so we ordered lunch.

The name may sound offensive to those who are not familiar but it is delish! Seriously! Try the Ox Tail Soup.

I would of given the place a 4 star rating just on the soup alone but when you factor in all the other categories...... 3 star it is.

The service is quick and efficient. Atmosphere is none existent...its a dungeon cafeteria style (if such a thing exists).
