Hidden in a hole-in-the-wall on a side street off of Rice Street, Hamura Saimin is quirky, but wonderfully so. No reservations. Not even any tables. Diners sit at a long, curved diner-like counter, and order from the menu that features saimin, and little else. But, oh my goodness, is it delicious! Saimin noodles in shrimp broth, with various morsels [depending on your menu choice] swimming in the bowl. I'd recommend the regular size bowl of the regular saimin, which should allow you to have room for a slice of llikoi chiffon pie.
The locals love the place, so, at lunch hour, you will likely have to wait to get a seat. WAIT! You'll never forget it.
Be advised, though, the place accepts no credit cards. It's a cash only business, But two people can have a delicious, delightful lunch experience, including a drink and dessert, for less than $25. Total.
