Description: On the sand at Kalapaki Beach, Duke’s is dedicated to legendary surfer Duke Kahanamoku, Hawaii’s Ambassador of Aloha. The restaurant’s open-air design offers stunning, sweeping ocean views while the 30 foot waterfall plunges into a koi pond below that meanders through the tables. Enjoy a leisurely lunch, romantic dinner, or tropical cocktail in a fun, friendly atmosphere.

“Beautiful Location!”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

We have dined here twice on our way out of Lihue for the flight home. It is a beautiful way to say goodbye to Kauai, with an ocean-front location that really can't be beat. This time, we used the valet parking on the side of the restaurant for non-hotel guests -- very convenient! The food was very good and the salad bar really adds to your serving size. Delicious drinks, too. I wouldn't say it was the best food we had on Kauai, but the overall experience was very nice. The service was good and we seemed to have arrived at just the right time to get a great ocean view table. We didn't even have a reservation.

“Great Mai Tais & View but...”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

The restaurant decor is very nice and views from the dining area of the beach and bay are spectacular. It's wonderful to sit in the breeze looking out on the beach and the bay. The Mai Tais are excellent. We should have stopped there. The waitress was surly and did not even tell us the daily specials. My wife and I both had Mahi Mahi in different ways in both dishes the fish was dry, tough, and virtually inedible.
So go for a drink, enjoy the view and refreshing breeze but don't eat there and if you get the same waitress we did ignore her or run.

“On the Beach, Surf out front, great food.. Duke would be proud!”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

Kalapaki Beach and Dukes on Kauai is the place to eat before you get on the plane! Many flights leave VERY late and you can have great food and drink on the beach and be 3 minutes from the airport to go home. Also great for an arrival Mai Tai at lunch as many places have a 3pm arrival time.
