The gift shop is well stocked, the tasting tour lots of fun! Our "guide" was witty and full of rum knowlege. This is a must see stop for any rum lovers. This is exceptional rum.

The Koloa Rum Company was a very nice stop for us. We sampled all the the different rums, brought home a bottle of dark and really enjoyed the Spiced. Staff was very nice, friendly as you would hope for on a vacation....

Located on Gaylord's Plantation, the home of one of the biggest luaus on the island, the store for the rum distillery is new since my last visit to the island. I signed up for the free rum tasting and thoroughly enjoyed learning how to make a Mai Tai. The store has plenty of offerings beyond rum. I found the rum to be expensive compare to other island distilleries I have been to but the dark rum was worth it. It's a nice deviation from the standard Kaui things to do and we enjoyed this on a non-chamber of commerce weather day. You will too!

We visited the Koloa Rum Company on a whim because we thought it would be a fun activity that didn't need to be planned. When we arrived, we were greeted by very sweet staff. Also, we didn't realize that this is in the same location as the Luau Kalamaku and the railway tour of the plantation (we might have waited to go here if we knew this since we are going here.

We were asked if we wanted to join a rum tasting....these happen every half hour, so no need to worry if you miss one. We all bellied up to the bar and our bartender had us taste each of the rums individually and then use the leftover to mix into a mai tai (with their signature mix). We also taste tested the spiced rum as well. The bartender was very nice and polite and pleasant.

After that, we came back into the store to check out all the great goodies. They have rums (obviously), mai tai mix, mai tais ready to drink with the rum rum fudge, various salt mixes, BBQ sauces, meat rubs, soaps, jewelry, etc. Janie, the cashier, was such a sweet woman and she was very personable. It was much more than a shopping experience and we had a great time just visiting with her since no one was in a rush to check out.

Overall, I was very impressed by this cute place and the friendly staff. Would definitely go back again!!

Neededto "kill" a bit of time so I stopped by. The "bartender" was very personable and taught us how to make mai tais with the leftover rum. Sorry to say, I was not impressed with the rum. And, I was so very surprised to see the same rum for sale at KMart 40% less!
