Description: Gaylord's offers one of Kauai's most beautiful settings for lunch, dinner or Sunday brunch. Located on the ground floor of the historic Kilohana Plantation home, diners are seated around an open-air courtyard with views of the plantation grounds and Mt. Waialeale in the distance. Our kitchen uses only the freshest, seasonal ingredients supporting our local farmers and fishermen. Our 67-acre sustainable farm provides much of the produce and herbs used in our dishes and cocktails. Menu items include starters like fresh Ahi Poke, Seafood Spring Rolls and Organic Greens Salads; Local Fish, Meat and Vegetarian Entrees; and Banana Cream Pie for Dessert! After your meal take a walk around the Kilohana grounds, shop in our assorted boutiques, visit the rum shop or take a ride on the plantation train. Join us at Gaylord's to enjoy the best of what Kauai has to offer in island food and experience. Call for reservations and details on weekly entertainment. Memorable by day...Unforgettable by Night.

This place went through a name change and now is called Gaylord again. We don’t know the whole story, but it remains one of our favorites in Kauai. Good local ingredients. You may be introduced to yet another variety of Hawaiian fish. I tried Shutome, which was good, although I had to send it back to the kitchen to be cooked more (yes, I do like sushi, but that was not the idea here!) The restaurant was very sparsely populated when we went for dinner, so I hope they are doing all right.

At $25, the Sunday Brunch Buffet at Gaylords is not really cheap - but what a great spread. The food is absolutely delicious and there is an amazing variety of Island flavors, pork appetizers, coconut desserts, macademia pancakes etc. etc.

The setting is always very special, as the gardens have, if anything, grown more beautiful over the years, and the service is absolutely spot on. If you want somewhere really special to celebrate something, or if you just want a wonderful brunch - you can't do better than this.

New management is doing wonders at this long time favorite which had fallen upon sad times after sale to a group which could not seem to find its way, nor its destination! New management has changed direction, philosophy and standards back to what should be expected of an upper level destination for both locals and visitors.

The menu conrtinues to feature fresh, local products. Food is excellent, well prepared and appetizingly presented.

But the biggest change is in attitudeand service. A friendly smile has replaced an unwarranted superiority attitude. Service meets or exceeds expectations.

We had xcrossed it off our list, but it is back as a rediscovered favorite!

If you want a sure bet on a good meal, I think this is the place. While there are many other good restaurants on Kauai, many of them are hit or miss, whether with food quality or service. Gaylord's seems to get it right every time for us. The food was superb. My husband had the buttermilk chicken and loved it (fancying himself somewhat of a connoisseur in that area) and I combined 3 appetizers for a kind of tapas meal: the ahi tartare, the spring rolls and the Caesar salad. The salad was fine (how much can you say about a Caesar salad afterall?) but the spring rolls were amazing as was the tartare...the presentation of the latter in a halved coconut was a very nice touch! We have not made it there early for the train tour but hear it's worth the trip (probably will get there on our next visit). We were there on Halloween night and the staff was having a costume contest for the workers. They continued to be extremely attentive and professional in their crazy attire but added a touch of fun this time around (I still wonder who won the contest).

The spring rolls were awesome but the rib eye was dry. Dessert was okay, but truly nothing special. The short ribs were tasty but the scallops nothing to write home about.
