We did an RCI exchange into Banyan Harbor. It was NOT a fair exchange! But I'll start with the staff--they are amazingly accommodating and personable. When we saw that our assigned unit was up many steps, they happily moved us to a unit with fewer steps and followed up to see if we were satisfied. Kiki is the concierge and she really cars about the guests. But this 'resort' is comprised of thirty-something units amid an apartment complex! There is nothing 'resort' about this property except for Kiki and a nice pool setting. There was no view from unit A-1 (our unit). There are no king-side beds, only queen beds. The a/c units are on timers, so they go off after six hours. We would hear the people (I think they were residents) the floor above us. It's across the street from a port and in the industrial part of Lihue. The beach is a good 10-minute walk away. We lasted here one night then it was worth us to pay to move to a nearby hotel.

We stayed here for a week this month using our timeshare. They were undergoing renovations to install solar panels on the roves of the units. That said there was minimal noise and we spent most of our time in the pool witch is a salt water pool and an amazing place for kids to gain confidence in swimming. The resort is a good 3 star property with ac and ceiling fans plus a full kitchen if you want to cook.

I would definitely come back.

Our family of 11 enjoyed staying at Banyan Harbor in June 2011. We had three condos. We enjoyed using the pool and grilling one night at the pool house. We were just a block away from the beach. There were a few restaurants close by. If you want a nice meal check out Duke's. The best mushroom and swiss burger was found about 2 blocks away at the Kalapaki beach hut. The location is close to the airport and centrally located. All three families had cars. We rented our snorkel gear for a week and enjoyed checking out as many beaches as we could. Kauai is spectacular.

Aloha! We are so glad your Family (Ohana) enjoyed your recent visit to Kauai and Banyan Harbor! We are very centrally located (1/2 distance to Hanalei or Kokee State park) and close to shopping, golf, Kalapaki Beach and so much more! Even Costco!

Heres a tidbit, the Kalapaki Grill also has an awesome chicken teriyaki sandwich and the Taro Fries, yum! Hope you to meet you on a return visit! Mahalo! Lyle Otsuka GM

We just returned from a one week stay at the Banyan Harbor with 30 teenage football players, five coaches, and three coaches' wives. We were looking for a place that was a) inexpensive b) clean c) centrally located and d) within walking distance of inexpensive restaurants for the boys. This place met our expectations perfectly.

We were initially a little unimpressed with the buildings and the units. But after a week of staying there, we realized that it was perfect for our needs. We had 7 two bedroom units (coaches' units had two bathrooms, kids' units had 1.5), so we were able to place six kids in each unit. Although the units are showing a little wear, they were clean and comfortable and had everything that we needed for our stay, including washer and dryer. There were also large TVs in the units which was nice for evenings in.

I personally stayed in unit A1 and although we had no view we also had no road noise. The boys in building D did not complain about road noise at all, but they are teenagers and probably wouldn't care anyway.

The pool area was nice, with BBQs and tables for eating outside. The pool was heated and perfectly clean. The view was very nice from the pool area. There was also a nice BBQ lanai near building A from which we were able to cook 100 hamburgers to feed our hungry boys.

The location was ideal for our boys: close to a couple of small shopping centers with inexpensive restaurants and an ABC store. We provided them with breakfast and dinner, but they were on their own for lunches and this location allowed them to walk around the neighborhood looking for grub. The area looks a little industrial, but it had the facilities that we needed. Nearby Kalapaki Beach was perfect for our boys, just enough wave action to entertain them and never crowded.

Staff at the Banyan Harbor was friendly and personable. They provided some recommendations for various activities. There is a closet full of beach gear that you can borrow for free (we didn't let our boys borrow it, though, as I was afraid it would get lost).

Although we really enjoyed our week at the Banyan Harbor, I should point out that this place is not a luxury resort by any means. It is essentially an apartment complex that also rents units to vacationers. We knew that going into the trip, so were not disappointed. One other thing to note: Beds in the units are queen sized.

Bottom line: Would I return to this resort? Absolutely, if I were traveling on a tight budget again. Our roommates (another coach and his wife) are already planning their return to the place.

My family just returned from a 2 week stay at Banyan Harbor and we were very pleased with our accommodation. It was very clean and the central location in Lihue is a great one for exploring the island. It is within walking distance of many shops/restaurants and close to the airport. It is a short walk across the street to a very nice beach.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. They lent us beach chairs and toys and told us to keep them for the whole stay.

The only negative I can report is that the view isn't great. From some buildings within the complex, you have a view of the parking lot and other buildings. From others, the view is of a rather industrial looking port. For us, this was far outweighed by the benefits, but view is more important to some.

We felt that Banyan Harbour provided great value for the reasonable price.

After reading some Tripadvisor reviews about the street noise we tried to stay away from buildings C & D and were put in building E Unit 59. If you can choose I would stay away from building E as well because you still get a lot of road noise. So much we got up and closed the windows early in the mornings so we could sleep. Ask for buildings F, G, H, I, or J if you have a choice. If those are not available try to get A, L or K or the far side of B. Stay away from C, D & E. But other than that everything was very nice. Good location! Close to (walking distance) Kalapaki Beach and Restaurants and just far enough away from the airport to not hear the air traffic. Be aware but not afraid there are stairs to get into your unit and stairs up to the second floor bedrooms. Very nice views from the pool area. We didn't swim the one time we were going to because there was a group (about 15) of "locals" in the pool which made it noisy and crowded but we walked up to the pool and relaxed in the chairs a couple late evenings. The staff at Banyan is great! They were very helpful with everything we asked for. And the Concierge, Kiki, made everything perfect for us. She worked with several groups to arrange tours for us and even haggled prices with them to get us a good deal. I would recommend Banyan Harbor to everyone who doesn't require a 5-Star hotel while they stay in Kauai.

Our family had 2 two bedroom condos in exchange for our Belize location. They were immaculately clean, large and the washer/dryer was a big plus. The staff at Banyon Harbor are friendly and work earnestly to arrange your island adventures. Kiki is the best Manager around.

We had condos £105 and 106 and the view from their balconies were wonderful! We had garages to put our rental cars in and equipment for our beach trips in storage. The office provides beach towels.
We highly praise this complex and it's people for our great trip to Kauai! Mahalo.....
