“A great place to stay in Lihue”
Reviewed May 23, 2013

We stayed here for 2 nights as I wanted something central as we planned to explore both the East and West coasts. A 5 minute drive from the airport its also very easy to find. I only had one disappointment- I had booked a mountain view room as the whole reason we were in Kauai was to see the mountains. However when we got to our room it had a view of a pond and a car park. I asked if there was another room and reception gave me a second option. This option had some mountain views from the balcony however from the room it was just bush but it was a better option than the first so we took it. A little false advertising if you ask me. As we were halfway down the hall it was also a bit noisy and you could hear everyone walk past or use the ice machine. Other than that it was a great stay- the rooms were updated, nice bathrooms and the pool area extensive. It rained on our second day but we still made use of the heated spa and pool. We had dinner one night at the restaurant and it was great food but pretty average service. The waiter forgot our side and even though we reminded him when he delivered our food forgot again. He seemed very busy and didn’t seem genuinely interested in our service. Make sure you book as we had dinner on a Saturday night when the seafood buffet is available and people were waiting to get in. We only booked at lunchtime but it got us a table. I would happily stay here again as it has everything that you need and I think very good value compaired to some of the other hotels.

Room Tip: Down the end of the hall

My husband and I stayed at Kauai Beach Resort late April/early May and very much enjoyed our stay. The grounds were well maintained as were the pools and rooms. Everything was very clean and staff was excellent. We were pleased with dinner at their main restaurant however disappointed with Shutters food quality which is strange since I bet it's from the same kitchen. The new parking lot seems to be a nice addition, but if you return to the hotel late, the lot will be full and you'll have to park on dirt - no biggie for us. The property is an older one, however, they have done a good job maintaining it.

I don't know if I will have room to write all the great things about this property and staff. A little history,I started a two week vacation with friends and family, I was included in a rental with family, but it continued to grow and grow until I had to go out on my own, 9 in a 3/3 is a little much. Love you guys, but need my space.

I did a quick internet search to locate a place and I found the Kauai Beach Resort. I was a walk in that night and for HI, I received a great rate. The property is just out of this world, the staff that I encountered were all truly wonderful. I ended up staying 5 nights and it was the most relaxing time I have had in years.

So my hat is off the staff and management of the Kauai Beach Resort you are operating a remarkable property in a most professional way. I will be writing more on this property on my travel site very soon.

What can we say that hasn't already been said - stayed for 4 nts - can't fault the hotel at all - all of the staff were very pleasant & polite, & always friendly & helpful. The grounds are beautiful & the location is ideal, especially if you want to witness an amazing sunrise. The room was very comfortable & clean, (waking up each morning to our pool / sea view was incredible) & the pool areas were always spotlessly clean. Very impressed with the restaurant - quality of food & service was exceptional.
We would recommend the services of Expedia (available in the hotel) to book excursions - the ladies were very helpful & provided some excellent advice for places to see & things to do in the available time. The local people are very friendly, genuine & accommodating & we were always greeted with a smile & a genuine interest in our thoughts of the island.
We moved on to Oahu from here & our only regret is that we didn't book for longer. One of our goals is to return at the earliest opportunity.
A big "Thank you" to ALL the staff - this trip was part of my wifes' 50th birthday celebration & a lifetime ambition - you made it so special.

My fiance was on a job for 5 days in the area and I tagged along. We ended up staying a total of 9 days and it was worth every penny! This resort is amazing, from the grounds to the food to the VERY helpful and friendly staff. Gorgeous pool area with pools of varying depths, even one with a volleyball net strung across. There's outdoor casual dining in the afternoons and 2 additional restaurants inside with an open-air feel thanks to windows that operate more like huge doors to let the Hawaii air and wildlife (small birds!) in. Our room was standard as far as decor but very clean and spacious. It was nice to be on the 1st floor and have a lanai that you could step right out into the pool area from! There is also a beach perfect for sunrise/sunset watching. There were some local surfers who braved the waves but they were pretty tall waves. Every single person who worked there that we interacted with was very nice and willing to share their views on local things to see and places to eat. Everyone greeted us with a smile and an "Aloha!" even if we were just passing them in the hall. If we ever return back to Hawaii for a full-blown vacation, we will most definitely stay here again!

This is an extraordinary place to stay. The service is excellent. The setting gives access to the beach and a variety of pools and spas. The staff is friendly and helpful. I can't imagine a better place to stay in Kauai. I was there for a week and was never disappointed in the beauty of the place and the kindness of the people. I highly recommend this hotel resort. The restaurant has a wonderful menu with a variety of great dishes. The coffee shop is also very nice.

Room Tip: The room I had was one with a mountain view. However, I can't imagine a bad location. There is e...

Our two-day family stay was an excellent value. This is a great place to relax on the East Shore due to its proximity to both Kapa'a and Lihue. We first stayed at this location 15 years ago. And it has eclipsed the 'old Radisson days' in a big way.

The Kauai Beach Resort's grounds are gorgeous, the spacious layout is grand without pretentions, food choices were varied, and the service from front desk to poolside was excellent in every way. We enjoyed the outdoor areas so much that we extended our checkout by half a day.

The kids loved the slide in the separate pool nearest the beach. Correspondingly, we parents loved the food and beverage service from the poolside cabana there with redone menus that now include a choice of salad or fresh fruit. (There is now a $3 fee for those who sub fries, which we jokingly deemed an 'obesity upcharge'.)

As well, we appreciated the option of having a choice between two spas with different temperature settings. These were quite pleasant between swimming pool plunges. And beach walks were organically easy from the location.

The live lounge music was great in the evenings, and the menu was graciously adapted to our gluten-free needs. The superb local performer had enthusiastic audience participation. All in all, these were fun interludes from start to finish.

We would have appreciated some gluten-free items (pancakes, muffins, etc.) at the breakfast buffet as well as egg substtute dishes. But this is a personal matter (as we deal with both gluten and egg intolerances!). The nicely laid-out buffet is more than ample for typical diners. And it is also a sound value supplemented by table and beverage service.

Sure there was wind at times -- as there often is on the east shore. And there were a few wild chickens whose numbers are now smaller than in the past. ( I sometimes use earplugs for sleeping on Kauai for this reason.) Still, both features are part of the island's charm.

We loved the valet parking and porter service. They made our stay a breeze, and we had planned to rely more upon them for excursions off-property. But we quickly got so comfortable that we never left as planned!

So, Kauai Beach Resort, thank you for a good time. And an excellent value. This lovely place has morphed into a true destination resort at affordable prices.

Room Tip: The standard rooms are excellent and well-appointed. Loved the room-darkening shutters.
