“Beautiful Resort, Close to Airport, Good Value”
Reviewed October 16, 2012

The Kauai Beach Resort is a beautiful resort and very close to the airport. We stayed here before on our Honeymoon when it was then The Outrigger, the resort was undergone remodeling since then. We arrived on a Friday evening at about 6:00PM. After a long day of traveling, we were very thankful that check in was fast. The front staff, Charlotte and Charlene(Names ?) were very friendly and helpful. We booked a lagoon view room bed and breakfast package, the lagoon views were sold out so they upgraded us to a pool view. IMO, either lagoon or pool views would have been equally nice. As you enter the lobby you are drawn to the pools that surround a lava rock grotto with waterfalls that spill into the pools and heated spas. There is a sand bottom pool that's perfect for small children and water slide pool towards the beach side of the resort. There is a another pool on the Time Share owners side of the complex too.

The rooms: I believe that every room has it's own lanai. The rooms are well maintained and clean. Our room had 2 double beds, desk, flat screen TV, safe and small refrigerator. Free WIFI is available in the lobby and pool area.

Amenities and dining: There is a spa, fitness room, gift shop, business center (charge), restaurants and bar/lounge with live music. The breakfast buffet was good with the usual breakfast offerings, fresh fruit, juices, etc... The food at Shutters Lounge was also very tasty. Note: the food in the lounge is served tapas style so do not expect big portions. Food served pool side offers sandwiches, burgers, etc... moderately priced but only served until 6:00PM. Again, the resort has everything you need on site so if you prefer other shopping and dining options you will need transportation as the closest alternatives are not close by walking. I think KBR has shuttle service. You will have to pay for parking per day.

If coming from the mainland, take advantage of the time difference before you adjust to the time change and enjoy the beautiful sunrise beach views. I would definately stay again and recommend a stay at the KBR.

Room Tip: End units are further from the elevators.

We stayed one night at the Kauai Beach Resort. The property is easy to get to from the airport. Overall I was impressed with the value - very clean and well kept. It has a very nice pool area and the room was quite nice as well. Parking was a slight issue in that the self parking lot ($13.95 per day) was having some construction work done. However, I was told if I had any issues finding a parking spot, they would valet park the car for no extra charge. We ate in the lounge that evening - one bacon burger ($15) and a beer ($6). Not overly high for Hawaii prices. The staff was friendly. The beach immediately behind the Kauai Beach Resort is not swimmer friendly - it's a bit rocky and waves were moderately high. There were some surfers about 100 yards out. However, if you walk down the beach north about 100 yards, you get to a state park area where the beach is a little nicer and there were some folks swimming there. The beach is very scenic though. I would defintely recommend staying there. It was nice to fell like I wasn't being ripped off.

Room Tip: I chose the Kamaaina room special for $119. It was a garden view, but you still get a great room fo...

We stayed here in Oct. of 2012 for our honeymoon. We stayed on the ocean side of the building and the view was excellent. The ocean/beach is right outside and it is beautiful. I believe there are four pools and they were all nice. They have a nice breakfast buffet in the morning which is not included. Kauai only has about one road so this hotel is in a convenient spot near the airport. Parking was a HUGE issue, there wasn't enough, but it looks like they are working to rectify that and if you couldn't find a spot, they would valet your car for free. Staff was always friendly at breakfast and at the front desk. Room was very clean. It's a quiet resort which was nice. Lots of people had kids so it seemed very family friendly. Would stay here again.

Overall, a very nice resort. Of the 4 places we stayed in our recent visit to Hawaii, this was the nicest (and also the most expensive). It eked out our 2nd place stay, because it had a/c, and Hawaii seemed hotter and more humid than our other visits, when a/c was not important. We also took advantage of KBR's "Fall" special package, which included a rental car and parking. Also, we paid extra for a room with a view (i believe it was $10/ day), and $10 per person, for breakfast buffet. Both were worth purchasing. (The view out of the backside of the building we were in was a dirt road and an overgrown field.)

Only negatives were that: 1) WIFI was only available in the lobby, and 2) there was not much beach, at the beach resort. on the latter, the beach did not have much depth in sand and the shoreline had strips of rock (lava). While we did not attempt to go on the beach, we did walk by a few times and noted very few people on the beach or in the water.

Another consideration is that we were in Kauai for only 3 nights, and we did a fair amount of sightseeing. Given that, we did not have a lot of time to sit around the pool and take advantage of the amenities at the resort.

Room Tip: If a view from your room is important, pay the extra to do so. Not sure we would have been happy ove...

We loved our stay. Our room was on the backside of the building with some ocean view and greenery and was quiet. It was not super busy that week. Only real bummer was weather as there had just been storms like crazy and the oceans were murky. I was disappointed that we didn't get to snorkel. The resort is in a great location as far as if you want to rent a car and travel the island. If you want to be where you can walk or bike from the resort don't stay here as it is remote. Let me tell you, it is worth renting a mustang convertible as you can see the whole island over two days! SO much fun to explore! The staff were friendly and helpful. You can book activities right on site. Was relaxing to sit by the pool order appetizers and drink the maitais. Yes do be aware that generally food is pricey but hey, it's Hawaii and expected; just plan for it. It's close to the airport and they shuttle if needed. We didn't notice airport noise though. I think if I went again I would get a pool view room because you can see the ocean as well and it's REALLY pretty to see at night!!

I stayed at the Kauai Beach Resort from 10-03-12 to 10-10-12. I stayed in an owners room on the fourth floor of building 1. Check in and check out was a breeze and the staff very helpful. The location is central to both the North and south shores. The resort is literally 10 minutes from the airport. Every morning we were greeted with "Aloha's" from every member of staff. The resort is kept immaculate and for the price above my expectations. The resteraunt and bar are a little pricey. Overall a very satisfying stay.

My hubby and I stayed at this resort for 8 nights in July 2012. This was our 5th time to the Hawaiian Islands and we loved this place. The location, beach, staff, beach bar, pool area with waterfalls, sandy beach pool with water slide, and restaurant were awesome! The lounge offered free music nightly and they performed Hawaiian music and oldies, just what we love. It was a wonderful resort for the two of us but is also awesome for families. Beautiful sunrise every morning from our room, 4 gorgeous pools and 2 large hot tubs to enjoy! Very quiet location and near Kapa'a. If you have any questions, contact me on fb.

Room Tip: We stayed in the building closest to the ocean on the 2nd floor and were facing the pools. Breat loc...
