Pros: The room and bath were nice/updated overall (but the bathroom only had 1 hook for hanging bath towels, beach towels, and bathing suits, and the one hook was about to fall off the wall); we had a partial ocean view but didn't spend much time on our little balcony. Relaxing at the hot tub every evening was great. They had live music most nights which sounded good in passing (think James Taylor), although we didn't stay for it. There were a few pools, but too many kids if you'd like to swim, but we took full advantage of the hot tubs, which were large, with man-made waterfalls nearby. The resort is literally 5 min. from the airport, so it's convenient. They have a coin operated laundry facility, although the soap dispensing machine was out of order, and guests had to buy their own detergent. Cons: the resort is on a beach, but it's not the type of beach where you can set out a blanket or swim because the surf is too rough and too close to an embankment (which is littered with twigs and little pieces of plastic & junk). But, you can walk on a pathway on top of the embankment just above the beach, which is nice. We ended up driving to the north end of the island a couple of times to go to the beach, and it's a bit of a drive. Next time, we will stay up there. There were a lot of families at the resort, so it didn't really feel like a couples destination. A couple of people even brought their toddlers into the hot tub--not very sanitary or romantic, plus I think it's too hot for young children. Also, the other guests were kind of loud and annoying at times. You can't just pull up a lounge chair and expect to relax/sleep in the pool area because it's too loud. Be aware that in the morning, you will be awoken by roosters (I'm not kidding), but this might be true anywhere on Kauai, as there are feral chickens and roosters everywhere (even saw some walking around near the pools). Lastly, we arrived on a morning flight and tried to check in at 11 a.m., but weren't able to get a room until 4 p.m.

I did a lot of research on this hotel and am happy with the expectation that it's a 3* hotel.
This hotel has a deal with multiple online services; it is squarely a 3* hotel, if you consider Westin as 4*, St.Regis as 5*. Having said that, it provides good value for money, staff is nice and courteous. Never had bad experience with the staff, yes the facilities leave something to be desired but you'll get a great deal. You'll spend 2x at 4*hotel, you can choose that or stay here and spend it on activities. The bldg is abt 20yrs old but kept okay. Do note the extra parking fee. They do let locals use the hotel pool but
You will be disappointed if you go in thinking it's Westin, but if you're looking for great value for a tired but clean facilities, you'll be pleased.
I recommend this hotel if you plan as a base and drive to other beaches around the island. Location is excellent, closest hotel to Lihue, just few minutes to Kapaa, 1/2hr to Poipu, 45min to princeville. It gives you a lot of options on restaurant, shopping, beach and activities. We stayed at princeville before, but you'll more or less be stuck there.

Room Tip: HW and other discount sites will give you the view of pkg lot.

We stayed at the Kauai Beach Resort after getting the booking through the local military leisure travel office. We arranged the flight, car and hotel at our "one stop" office. Upon arriving at the hotel I was required to provide proof that I was actually living in the state. The clerk wanted to see a utility bill or driver's license from Hawaii. I just don't travel on vacation with my billing records. I do not have and am not required to get a hawaii drivers license while stationed here. I ended up having to get USAA, the greatest insurance company in the world, to fax a copy of the front page of our policy showing our address. My vacation started off with me on my cell for 25 minutes proving what my address was. This was ridiculous but without it she intended to almost double the rate. No mention of this requirement is published anywhere. It started off the trip with unnecessary stress.

The hotel was nice enough but nothing out of the ordinary for a destination like Kauai. We reserved a Garden View room. You could see wild growing plant life on the other side of the parking lot and dumpsters.

The service staff in the restaurant, bar and maids were wonderful and in the end we did have a nice stay. I really do not like hidden requirements and charges but it seems to be the direction this world is moving toward. Parking charge was $12/day if you have a vehicle.

Aloha,

Thank you for your review of our resort. While I understand your arrival experience did not meet your expectations I was happy to see that you did enjoy your staty.

I want to thank you for bringing to my attention the check-in experience. The reservation you were on is a new program we just launched to our military customers and it seems our front desk agent was not up to speed on the new program.

I have addressed this issue and can insure you that future reservations made through your base travel offices will not have the same experience.

Thank you for staying with us and we hope that you give us another opportunity to serve you in the future.

Sincerely,

Robin Graf
General Manager

We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed the experience! Our first time to Kauai and the hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The grounds are well maintained and the pools wonderful. There is no beach to speak of but nice beaches are nearby. The breakfast buffet is very good. Was interesting to wake to crowing roosters. There are chickens all over the island. Our only complaints are the $13 daily fee to self park at least 250 yards away from our room and the daily $13 for internet. Hotel guests should be just that and not nicked for what should be part of the experience. Having to sign out for pool towels we also felt was a bit unusual. Overall, a good experience and would definitely stay here again.

Been to Kauai before, but we didn't even know about this hotel. (Previously, might have been a Hilton?) Found it on the internet at a very good price. We were very happy with our selection. Location, rooms, and grounds were all very good.

Our room was very nice and clean. It seems like it was renovated recently or just well maintained. Very clean and comfortable, with mini fridge, TV, lounger, and good A/C. Pool and restaurant were excellent. Self parking was slightly far away and did not like that they charge a daily rate for parking.

The location is perfect. Very close to the airport and the main town of Lihue. Since it is centrally located on the island, it is easy to get to other points of interest (Poipu, Waimea, Kapaa, and Hanalei). Staff seemed very friendly and helpful. The beach wasn't too nice, but the nice pool will keep you satisfied.

Definitely worth staying here. You won't go wrong with this hotel.

My wife and her sister's family of 5 stayed at Kaui Beach Resort for one week. From the moment we checked in, we were greeted with a smile and awesome customer service. We were all tired after our 5 hour flight and all we wanted to do was relax in our rooms. The front desk assisted us in a very painless and quick check-in. Even a simple request of a higher floor room was granted!

The grounds of Kauai Beach Resort are kept very clean with beautiful flowers and clean cut grass. It gives you an environment of peace and tranquility. There are three pools, one with a waterslide (fun!) and another with a waterfall (loved the water falling on me!). Not to mention the spectacular view of the ocean from our hotel. Breathtaking...

The only restaurant on the premises was very tasty and delicious. My wife and I tried their breakfast menu and was above quality to what we were expecting to try.

The only negative, AND I MEAN NEGATIVE about this hotel is that there is NO BEACH ACCESS WHATSOEVER!!! It was an inconvenience every day to pack up our beach towels, water clothes, etc, and drive to a beach in the island. HAVING A CAR IS A MUST IN THIS ISLAND BTW. However, you can say it balances itself out by staying in such a beautiful hotel.

Overall, the ultimate question is "Would we stay here again?" We would...
