Kauai lagoons golf course has it all. The pro shop is first class, course is well maintained, and the price is fair...especially for Marriott guest. I'm a 15 handicap, and I found most holes on the inland 9 (except for # 5) to be straight forward and very fair...good clean fun. The ocean 9 with the summer trade winds were a different story. Hole 10 is well over 570 yards into the teeth of the wind, and I'd like to meet the guy who could be "on in 2". Then the ocean nine cuts you a little break and gives you great scenery for a few holes. Then the tough to ridiculousness starts at 14 and doesn't let up until you reach the clubhouse. Their "signature" hole, # 16 plays more like a putt-putt hole with the slope and elevation drop at the neck of the fairway. This hole is flat out stupid and rewards the duffed shot that rolls for 75-100 yards straight down the fairway to the green instead of the guy who tries to fly the green from the top of the hill! There are many good holes on this course, but don't brag about a gimmick hole that any true fan of the sport will see right through.
