“A typical dinner theater, food could be better”
Reviewed August 9, 2012

This is no broadway show, but a regular typical dinner theater, which has played on Kauai for several years. The local cast, does a reasonably good job and for a night out in town, this is an o.K. option. The premier seats are $25 extra on top of the $80 dollars per person. Kids 5 and under are free and my for 8 year old it was $30. There is a coupon in one of the Kauai activity books you get at the airport. We were seated at the 2nd row of tables and we had a good view (no need for the premier seats). The buffet food is nothing to write home about. Some salads, rice, mashed potatoes that taste like out of a box, mixed frozen vegetables (just like we buy at Costco... and there is a Costco in town), teriyaki chicken and some fish in a lemon sauce. The deserts are just sweet without much taste. The cut up fruits were probably the best thing on the menu. The Mai Tai was very disappointing ($10). Everything in Kauai is more expensive than on the mainland, so comparing prices without the proper references on cost of living for the locals is a bit difficult. In summary, if you have an evening where you are looking to do something other than a Luau, this may be an option, however don't expect any culinary delights and there are definetely much better Mai Tai drinks on the island.

“A great evening out!”

While a bit pricey, this dinner and show combo is well worth it; my fiancee and I loved it! A great evening that I would relive anytime!

Buffet was just ok. Theatre was just ok. Too expensive for the quality.

“Strictly vacation faire”
Reviewed June 17, 2012

People do not come to Kauai for fabulous theater. It is a bit like Broadway theater in Las Vegas. People are out to have a good time with some eats along with a show. For that, this attraction is just fine. However, I am comparing this to other shows and buffets. In that regards, it's a bit disappointing for $80/person.

First off, the buffet dinner was pretty mundane. There were simple salads, potatoes & rice, boiled vegetable, and two entrees. The teriyaki chicken was dry, tough and not too tasty. The ono fish in cream sauce was much better but that was the only dish that stood out. The desserts were squares of coconut or chocolate cake - pretty unimpressive. The coffee was great.

Seating was on four rows of round tables. “Premier Seating” at $25 extra gets you in the two front rows – not worth the money since we had good stage views from the 3rd row.

South Pacific is one of my favorite shows. This performance was below average. If you have never seen South Pacific, you might be impressed. The best part of the show was the excellent acting of Nurse Forbush and Emile de Becque (sorry, don’t have actors names). They really sold their love, loneness, conflict, and awkwardness. The singing of the two leads was pretty average. There were no other standout performances. Lt. Cable seemed especially awkward. There was almost no choreography. They did not do a proper Forbush shower scene but somehow wet her hair for the song "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair". The most disappointing aspect was the orchestral support. It consisted of one music director at one electric piano. That was it. He played excellently but the music was hardly lush.

If you like Broadway or your local theater company, you may be better off finding another activity, since there are plenty of things to do on Kauai with your $80. If you are not a theatergoer, give this a try.
