After the long trip from the east coast it is really great to drive a few minutes to this little oasis. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the location is so convenient. There is good coffee and pastries in the morning and the price is just right.

The small hotel is owned by a family. Their advertisements are honest. They do not jack up the price once you get there as other motel's, and hotel's, do at times. The rooms are small though. But for me, that was fine! Televisions work fine there. But you may not get a room wth air conditioning, or a phone. If you make a reservation, then you need to make a request for a room with air conditioning at least. That's because there are roosters that crow all night long just outside the hotel. There are hundreds of wild roosters and chickens in the town that do not belong to anyone. (Hurricane Iniki, in 92, blew away a poultry farm there and all the roosters and chickens escaped and were never rounded up. I could not sleep much at all at night because of the roosters crowing all night.
But other than that, this hotel is cool! In walking distant to town. A block from the bus stop! Very safe place to be! Very friendly people that own the hotel. You do not need a credit card to stay there, just a small deposit.

We stayed at the Kauai Palms Hotel for two nights and we had a small room, but perfect for our needs. Centrally located within Lihue and claose to the airport. Dining and shopping options were not far away. Great coffee (Kauai Coffee) in the morning with muffins. If you're looking at a resort-type place, then this isn't the place for you. But if you're looking to stay at a nice comfortable place with VERY Friendly and helpful staff and nice atmosphere, then the place to stay is Kauai Palms. The price is great and not far from the beaches and beauty that is Kauai. Will definitely stay there again!

We had a second floor room. Quiet -but don't need an alarm clock roosters take care of that! Anyone who has been to Kauai will understand that. Desk personnel were friendly and knowledgeable regarding local attractions and places to eat. Could use larger size towels!! Small table in room would be nice for bringing back take out or reading maps, writing postcards.

This is centrally located, walking distance to many good restaurants ie. Hamura's Saimen.

We enjoyed our stay and would return.

Was traveling standby on the airlines, couldn't get on a flight and so needed a last-minute emergency hotel room. The Palms fit the bill perfectly. It is very close to the airport and cost only $10 for the taxi ride (we'd already turned in our rental car). The staff were very nice and helpful, and the on-site manager courteously accomodated a late after-hours check-in. They gave us the $59 Expedia rate even though we hadn't booked through Expedia. This is by far the least expensive hotel on the island, and when you see the rate and drive up to see an obviously older building, your first expectations are pretty low about what kind of accomodations you might get. However, the room far exceeded the expectation. It was not large, but was very clean and tidy. It had all the amenities you would expect from any large hotel, including real cream for your in-room morning coffee, not the powdered stuff you get most other places. This is definitely no resort destination, but neither should it be avoided based on its bargain price. It is a very clean, friendly, safe hotel that I would not hesitate to stay at again.

The rooms are small but cozy. Offers a mini fridge and coffee/tea. Internet is not available to all rooms most likely due to the range of wireless. We were only looking for a place to sleep near the airport for a good value. Taxes and all the room rented for $84. We settlered in for what we though would be a nice peaceful rest since the hotel is off the main road. Not so much. Load guest next door who seemed to live here were quote loud outside for hours and roosters nearby start at the first hint of light. Only stayed the one night here but I would find a quieter place if I had to stay longer. Arrived here at 10 PM and the office closes at 9 PM so we had to call them on your phone to get our key.

We want to thank you for taking the time to write a review of your experiences. The management and staff care about your experiences and we want you to know we are listening.

Thank you for your comments in regards to our property. Your comments regarding value, rooms and cleanliness are much appreciated.

In regards to the loud guest, our on-site manager would have handled your concerns. We would also like to assure you that we do not have long term guest staying in the hotel.

The roosters have been an on-going challenge since 1992, when the hurricane devastated the islands and destroyed the chicken farms, setting them free. Today, they are protected and are thriving island wide. We will implement a capture program, that will hopefully control the population around this area.

We hope that you will accept our sincere apologies. Be assured that we are working diligently on the issues you have brought to our attention.

If we can be of further assistance, please let us know.

Mahalo,
The Staff and Management of Kauai Palms
