Had the greatest customer service from this resort ever! They contacted me via email about 3 weeks prior to our stay (we stayed January 19-26, 2014) asking me what my preferences were regarding the location of our room. I told them I wanted a high floor with an ocean view...and that's exactly what I got! I was notified by email and by phone that they were doing construction in the tower that we were placed and asked if we were going to be ok with construction starting at 8am...I figured with the time difference from home that wasn't going to be a problem...and it wasn't. In fact, we never heard the construction; we did see workers going through the hallways but never actually heard them.

Our room was very clean and very nice; I'm sure we in one of the newly remodeled rooms. This resort used to be a hotel so the room configuration is a little different from your standard Marriott Resorts...but it didn't bother us at all. The most important parts to us: 1. the room was super clean and 2. the bed was amazingly comfortable.

The only thing we didn't care for was the food at the resort so we walked across the street and ate there when we were close to the resort.

This is a really beautiful resort, perhaps the best on this island. The pool is gorgeous and fun (and pools are important to us as we don't swim in the ocean), shops lovely, location on a small harbor is ideal, wonderful views from all the restaurants. Almost the entire staff was courteous and helpful........with one exception.

This was the absolute worst concierge service we have ever encountered and really not up to the standards of a resort of this quality. We had a very short stay here and wanted to cram in an activity or two if possible. At different times we actually spoke to two different employees at the concierge desks to find them fairly unhelpful. When one of our own ideas did not work out we had hoped for some suggestions but both of them seemed as if a sold tour would come out of their salaries. Getting information was like trying to remove a splinter from deeply imbedded flesh. One young woman bordered on rude. Is Concierge Service the punishment desk?

I rated this resort as Very Good only because I hope these two were just passing through, but it really brought down the score to about 3 1/2. Management, please take note. Some education and training needs to be done in this area.

Stayed for a few days to visit the island with a friend and had a very nice experience. Front desk, pool, and restaurant staff were all very pleasant and helpful. wi-fi was strong in the room and common areas. The big round pool is beautiful and warm, but I wished they had more umbrellas for shade when needed. We were able to rent a cabana in the afternoon for half off (2-5 pm).

Had breakfast buffet and poolside drinks at the resort, with dinners elsewhere around the island. Prices comparable to all Hawaii resorts (expensive :) Duke's and Cafe Portifino were both yummy. My fave restaurants are in Poipu though, so the dark (and sometimes rainy in winter) drive back to the resort was a little inconvenient.
Spa was bare bones without a sauna, etc.

My room was listed as Pool View but actually had a lovely view of the lagoon and mountains; it was clean and recently updated within the last few years. Wish there had been a screen on the sliding door to listen to the ocean sounds at night or when relaxing in the room.

The setting is picturesque and the location makes getting around the island pretty easy. I would recommend Kauai Marriott Resort to those who like a bigger resort, but want to be out and about exploring the island and aren't necessarily in splurging or pampering mode.

Room Tip: Pool view on the 6th floor of Ha'upu wing actually had a lovely lagoon and mountain view as well...

Stayed here for the second time in three years, and again everything was first rate. The pool is the largest on the island and the location is central to everything. The breakfast that is included in alot of packages is fantastic. They change it up daily as to the meat and main selections and so even thou we were there for two weeks, we never got sick of it. The staff is so friendly and helpful. Of course you have the everyday internet and parking fee that comes under the title "resort fee" but you cannot avoid that anywhere. The person at check in gave us the Marriot Mug for free which allows you to get coffee or soda anywhere on the property at no charge. Kauai is not known for its food, and some of the best is served at this resort.

Room Tip: Alot of the rooms have partial ocean views. We asked for one and got an upgrade

Everything about this hotel is tip top. The staff greeting you on arrival, reception and bar staff present a welcoming greeting. The pool is stunning with 4 hot tubs on one side and the beach on the other. The room was large and we were on the ground floor facing the pool. It is close to the airport and the cruise terminal and is ideal for both.

Room Tip: Ask for Pool side room

I stayed here in early January with my family. The pool area is lovely but the beach is not very attractive and the water is dirty, not at all like other beaches in Kauai. The area surrounding the hotel feels like a third world country. Do people seriously eat at the 'mall' across the street? Marriott's restaurants are fine, but after a few days the choices feel very limiting. Rooms are ok, nothing special. We loved Kauai, but will not be returning to the Marriott.

On behalf of the staff and management of the Kauai Marriott Resort and Beach Club, I would like to thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Although I am pleased it appears you enjoyed the hotel itself, I am sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the area of Kalapaki and Nawiliwili. I do hope we can welcome you back to our beautiful island of Kauai as there is so much to enjoy! In the meantime, if you'd like to discuss your stay further, please don't hesitate to call me directly. Mahalo!

First off, the good stuff: The resort and grounds are beautiful. Maintained very well, amazing to look at, quite relaxing by themselves. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The pool complex is wonderful to look at. Location is nearly ideal to explore all of Kauai. Seems to be a pretty good value, including generous inclusions on the resort fee.

The OK stuff: The pool area is better to look at than to use. It's just a big round pool. Nothing special at all. Not very friendly for anything except casual lounging in the water.

The bad stuff: VERY limited food and beverage options. The few outlets seem to serve a quite similar menu with little imagination. None of the bars at the property are open past 10 pm. None of the bars at the property stock fresh juices (on Hawaii!!!); canned only. Room service menu was so unappealing that we didn't try it. The grill/restaurant by the pool was only open from 11 am to 5 pm, making a full day pool/oceanside difficult.

Summary: Decent resort. Nothing spectacular, but certainly acceptable. We'd go back, but probably would try other properties on Kauai first to see the variety.
