“Great Staff and Excellent Location”

First, the location is perfection. Quick drive to/from the airport, excellent beach access with a stunning view. A lot of restaurant and shopping to check out. The hotel grounds are plush and green, and definitely well kept. The staff was always ready with an "Aloha" and a smile and were all very happy to help you.

The gym is nicely appointed. If you are a runner you must do the 3 mile loop around the hotel golf course. The scenery is spectacular.

The pool is second to none. Wonderful full circle design with a small island in the center. It also had about 5 hot tubs that allowed you to be social, or be alone if you wanted. And the kids' pool is off to the side. Great pool !!!

Be sure to hit Taco Tuesday at Duke's Barefoot Bar. Make friends with Chris on the Terrace Bar, he's great. Happy Hour at Kalapaki Joe's across the street.

My only complaint is that they didn't mention construction would affect our room stay. On two of our days they turned the water off to our room from 10a-2p. We were not in the room, so it didn't actually affect us. However, I did ask about upgrades upon check-in, and had they mentioned this construction we would have switched towers.

Room Tip: ASK about construction in your tower, and avoid it if possible. If in the tower nearest the escalato...

Stayed at the hotel from 09/07/13-09/11/13 and had a great time. The hotel was very nice and a great location on the island. The staff at the front desk provided above and beyond support and all of the staff provided exceptional service. The rooms were very clean and well kept each day. The hotel has a great pool to relax by with a drink or two and the beach is very clean and not crowded. Looking forward to returning the first week of December for another vacation.

We stayed for seven nights the first week in November. We used Marriott points for the first five nights and paid for the last two. We were not upgraded and were fine with that, until. The first night the bed was one of the worst I have ever slept in. I noticed that the room needed dusting. I guess if you refuse to pay $50 a night for upgrade this is what you get. Then in the morning they were removing carpet and molding in the hall. We went to the front desk where Amore helped us and we got another room. Clean and a nice bed, air did not work well, but we didn't complain to the staff about it. The staff was nice. The beach was great. Overall we had a good time. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back to this hotel.

My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon... Being it was one of the less expensive hotels, we didn't have these high expectations..boy were we wrong..the grounds are gorgeous, the rooms are cleanly, the pool is a great size..and is never overly packed..food is very good..and the drinks are even better ;) The views just make it! Overall we are so happy...The only thing we would change is the parking situation kinda stinks... our room overall is quite a hike..and the parking lot is even further... from our room it takes at least 10-15 minutes to walk to the car... so I would say that is the only downfall..but not a breaking point! Oh and although food is very good, the prices are very high..2 people for breakfast is over $50

Good property but the customer service at the front desk needs improvement.

ROOM
-our room with one king bed was vary specious, modern, clean, and overlooked the pool
-plenty of closet and storage space
-large bathroom
-nice size refrigerator and plasma TV with plenty of cable channels

PROPERTY
-this place is BIG and beautiful
-the highlights are the many pools, hot tubs, and beach
-the garden, fish pond, and art around the property were also cool
-the lowlights, not enough food options/bars/restaurants
-it wold also be nice to have a bar stay open past 10
-good location within minutes of the Lihue airport, but you wouldn't even know it since you don't see or hear planes
-good central/midpoint location for those driving around to see all sides of the island

FRONT DESK
-if it wouldn't be for our front desk experiences, this hotel would get a 4 star review
-I can write a long story about our situation/issue but will keep it simple. We needed the front desk to assist us with modifying our reserved dates. Keep in mind that we booked a package through Expedia for a low season. We talked to 4 different people and were always directed to "in-house reservations" for help. This department has limited hours.
-We had to repeat our situation each time and no one took ownership of helping us. Although no one was rude, they were not helpful and didn't care to make our vacation pleasant and waste our time.
-Once we got to work with Naomi at the "in-house reservations" all of our issues were resolved. Naomi was super nice and very helpful. Thank you Naomi. I wish the front desk would take ownership of customer service like you did.
-Hotel management needs to consider empowering the front desk staff to assist future customers that booked the hotel through third party vendors (at least major vendors like Expedia).
-Hotel management needs to consider additional hours for the "in-house reservations" area or making sure that other team members are able to assist outside of their regular business hours of like 7-4:30 Mon - Fri. This a huge resort, not a motel with 50 rooms.

We stayed at the Marriott for four nites this past week and would highly recommend this property. Service and amenities were tops and the staff was friendly and responsive across the entire property.

We were upgraded to a room on the far end of the pool area with a pool view and partial view of the bay. So that was quite nice, even though this building is quite far from the reception or entrance. There is a back place to park just outside this building which made access a snap.

The room was a nice size, good amenities, clean and quiet. All good.
The grounds were meticulously taken care of and were just beautiful, even though I often don't pay attention to such things, you could not help but notice.

The pool and beach area was quite vibrant as well. There was a bar too with decent sandwichs and more where everyone seemed to know everyone else. A lot of hanging around there and watching the game poolside/beachside, tough life. Great staff at the pool bar also.

We ate at the pool area twice and the food was quite good actually and reasonably priced. We also ate at the breakfast buffet twice and had quality meals both time. We missed the Friday night dinner buffet of prime rib and crab legs, but people talked about that as a special dinner as well.

We did eat at Dukes, just at the end of the Marriott two dinners and two lunches and had A meals all times. It was nice to just walk to a great place for a meal just next to the Marriott and made the whole experience of being there that much nicer. I wrote a separate review of Dukes for this site by the way.

Accommodating shuttle to and from the airport at all odd hours was nice as well. Quite close to the airport also.

I have no negatives, only positives of my experience at the Marriott. I would go back again in an instant.

My wife and I stayed here on the first night of our Honeymoon. We were upgraded to a suite, which was very nice. Clean, beautiful views, very comfortable. The food we has was good. The resort has a huge pool and direct ocean access. Definitely recommend a few nights at this resort. Close to the airport too!
