“One Night Stay”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

Stayed here for one night unexpectedly after our original hotel (Grand Hyatt) offered to pay for our night here in order to help with their filled capacity (to which we were compensated very well).

The location is great as it is right next to the airport. The property is right on Kalapaki beach, which isn't too great for surfing, but a good family beach.

The common areas (pool, lobby, gardens, etc.) are very clean and grand. We had an oveanview room in the Kahili tower, which was great. The hallways and elevator in the tower were a little dated and could use a renovation. The room was clean and nice though.

Didn't mind our short stay here and could envision us coming back on a longer stay. But if given a choice, I would stay at the Grand Hyatt.

This was my 3rd visit to the "Garden Island" of Kauai. Surprisingly the weather was less rainy that Oahu this time. We were blessed with sunny warm weather but even better this hotel turned out to be fantastic for our family. I had my grandson with his mother and godfather. He had lost his Dad a couple of years ago and the hotel employees were very empathetic and nice. The hotel has a great kids pool and pool in general, next to the beach. The beach was great with chairs with a great view of the ocean and close to the hotel facilities. We arrived earlier than check in time and the hotel accommodated us at no charge with access to swim facilities and the beach until our room was ready. The front desk staff was very polite and helpful. They also have a "Linger Longer" program for $85 that allows you to stay for a half day in your room if available if you have a late flight out the day of departure. This was great since we wanted to travel around and hit some other beaches, we could shower and pack up late.

We stayed in the Ha'Upu Tower with a partial ocean view that was wonderful. We so loved the view. The room and bed was very comfy and the balcony nice with a great view of the pool also. The room was very clean and our housekeeping staff, Jackie, was very accommodating with our requests, we needed more towels and soaps with a child.

The concierge staff was extremely helpful. Chad booked our events and was great. We loved the luau dance show at the hotel, Hawaii Alive, a very authentic and time-honored show at this Marriott Hotel. They were the best we have seen during this trip to Hawaii with an excellent musicians, singers and dancers.

My adult children did enjoy going to Duke's for drinks and we all ate at the Kalapaki Grill for lunch. All staff and service were great..

Breakfast in the mornings was great next to the pool, Kukui's, which had a great breakfast buffet with made to order omelets, which were delicious. Servers were very attentive and great here also.

The business center was the only part that I would not rate highly, though I was on a personal trip I travel frequently on business and this did not seem like as good a place for business travelers. They don't offer to print your boarding pass for free. The cost is not cheap to use the computers. They don't have SD card ports at all the computers, only number 1 and 8 plus one of the stations had the SD port working but not the USB port, so thank God for the phone line to the Help Desk. The second call Help Desk associate was very helpful and when my money ran out and the machine wouldn't accept the dollars, he extended time so I could transfer my photos to the USB.

We recommend this Marriott Resort Hotel and we would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Definitely get an ocean view if you can or at least a partial ocean view. We loved the Ha'Upu T...

This is the one folks. I have had the blessed opportunity to travel to the islands many times over the past 20 years or so. I was like every other rookie on my first visit or two and did the tourist thing on Oahu. Pearl Harbour, the north shore, the Polynesian Cultural Center, and THE beach. These are all great places to see the first or second time....but my friends you've gotta go to Kauai for a real Hawaiian Vacation. This property is the REAL DEAL. Whether you are going to explore the island or sit around and take in some sun, this is it. A nice complimentary shuttle from the airport, then a terrific Island welcome from the bell staff. You then descend three levels down an escalator to be greeted by a wonderfully landscaped area and beautiful Koy fish swimming in pools. Hang a left and be taken back by the gorgeous outrigger and gigantic marble guest check-in area. Perhaps as you stroll to your room you will be impressed by the gigantic pool and spa area, were large dragons are spurting water out of their mouths. The rooms are well maintained and clean, and the staff will do whatever necessary to give you the Aloha Spirit. A great place to stay.

I wasn't expecting much - I thought it would be dated and extremely noisy from the nearby airport. I was pleasantly surprised though, the hotel IS enormous and is surrounded by sprawling gardens and grounds which are quite beautiful. The buildings are large and impressive in scale even though they are quite old. The lagoon pool is huge and there are a number of hot tubs situated around it. The beach is actually quite lovely and we preferred it over many of the other south shore beaches on offer. It was great to be able to stroll out of our room onto what felt like a private beach and go paddleboarding/swimming or just lounge about on one of the many beach chairs.

Dukes was great for dinner or lunch. We weren't too impressed with the other food offerings though.

The room itself was fine. We had a view of the pool and ocean from the Kahili tower, a large balcony, comfy bed - everything that you need. One thing is that the resort is so large it can be quite a trek to get from one end to the other.

A lot of the guests are elderly or families with children as you would expect at this type of resort. They all seemed to be having a great time.

The airport proximity didn't bother us at all. We never noticed planes (the airport probably isn't that busy anyway) but we saw a lot of helicopters fly over during the day (we even flew over the resort in one) - however we didn't find the noise of helicopters disturbing in the slightest.

The drive to Koloa or Poipu isn't too far either for your daytrips and dinners etc. Lihue itself isn't much.

All in all we really enjoyed our time here, it was very relaxing and we loved the beach area.

Visited the Marriott Kauai Resort Feb. 2013 as a week long family holiday, super, worth every minute, exept the food, avoid the Italian Restaurant if you can, not worth the price food bad.
All else was great. Special thanks to McKenzie at check-in, she made tired travellers feel special.

Go there if you can.

You couldn't ask for nicer resort staff and plenty of them. We were upgraded (after asking if that was a possibility) and given an ocean view room right next door to the presidential suite. The room looked recently updated, had plenty of space even if the room wasn't huge. One big drawback is that the lanai doesn't have a screen and you need one here in order to keep the slider open. There might be screens on others rooms, but not this one on the 11th floor. The mattress and pillows were very comfortable, always a plus. The pool on the property is spectacular. They also have a kiddie pool and several hot tubs. The outside spaces here are colossal -really. Huge columns, koi ponds, grassy areas and walking paths. Just beautiful. They have several restaurants on site and are worth eating at. You would never know that this resort is right next to the airport. It's relatively quiet except by the pool. Since it's centrally located, it makes for a great place to stay.

We enjoyed our stay at this resort for many reasons. The rooms were really nice and clean. Staff was courteous and prompt at handling requests.
The hotel has various artifacts, and historical displays throughout. It is nice to round the corner and find an interesting artifact or artwork. The gardens were equally lovely.
We loved the location! The resort faces the bay with calmer waters, and you can still see the ocean beyond the mouth of the bay. Impressive mountains in the distance, great restaurants and shopping conveniently close by, and a fabulous view just a short 15 minute walk past the golf course. I would definitely stat here again!
I will note that this trip was covered by my company, so the room rates were not a factor. The restaurants within the resort were expensive for my tastes.

Room Tip: We stayed in Ha'upu Tower. Our balcony provided a view of the pool, bay, ocean, and mountains!
