“We loved it there!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 12, 2014 via mobile

We stayed 6 nights in room 21 from Feb 5-11 before heading to Maui. Our room was huge for the two of us with a wrap around balcony. Yes, you are on a busy highway but the noise dies down at night. Shame on you if you sit in your room all day when there is so much to see and do anyways. Staff was super friendly and all the included things like parking, wifi, beach gear and snacks and coffee throughout the day made it a great deal! Will return for sure !

Close to the beach but definitely overrated;
This hotel had a very nice receptionist and is close to Kapalaki beach and provided complimentary beach equipment which was nice. However, the rooms are very small, the decor has a funky marine color scheme, and the rooms on the front side of the hotel are extremely noisy. Definitely NOT worth the price we paid for this room! For a few dollars more we could have stayed at the nice Marriott located just a few steps away!!

Room Tip: If you want to get a good night's sleep, get a room in the back...not much of a view but no stre...

Aloha Bill, I was happy to hear you enjoyed our beach gear and friendly and knowable staff. I was surprised to read that the Marriott was only a few dollars more . I just called the Marrott and asked about their lest expensive room rate for tonight. Their least expensive pool view room was $319 plus tax and $ 30 a night resort fee for a total of $395.83. The Marriott ocean view rooms are another $100. This does include self parking and valet adds $10. I asked about a room next month and they have a rooms with resort charge and tax starting at $339. Our Garden Island Inn boutique, original tropical artful motif, aforadable rates, no resort fees, great location, cleanliness and friendly Island aloha makes us a great option to staying at the timeshare or resort. We provide outstanding value(mid range room at $130.per night) & location to our guests. I hope you found the Island of Kauai a tropical paridise a treat to explore and return.

We stayed at the Garden Island inn for two weeks over Christmas and New Years. We will be back as soon as we can! The staff are wonderful and actually care that you are having a great visit. The beach supplies that you can borrow in the office made our time at the bay more comfortable. We enjoyed being able to get to the water quickly and loved the restaurants that were nearby. Our favorite is Margaritas but we also enjoyed JJ 's Broiler. We liked the location and had fun watching the cruise ships come into the port. The traffic noise didn't bother us and we liked the free wifi. We have had to pay for it in other locations. The third floor rooms are definitely the best but our room, 17, was a bit on the small side. Next time we visit, I will request the next larger sized room. On the plus side having a king sized bed was great.

Loved the location of this Inn. 5 miles from the airport in Lihue - across from Kalapaki beach. Nice central location, get a rental car and go South one day and then the next day go North! The room was very nice. Second floor, queen size bed, with lanai. Outside there is a partial view of the beach and ocean. Nice waterfall outside the door. Many extras included (no extra charge for use) such as - movies, boogie boards, paddle board, snorkel gear, towels, sunblock, mats, coolers. Snacks available in the office (buns, cookies, granola bars, tangelos all through the day). Microwave and frig included in the room, along with much room for storage of personal items. Bathroom included shampoo, soap, etc. The only thing - was the little mold on the grout in the shower - weather conditions/humidity causing this issue.

Housekeeping staff were wonderful with the care of our room. I would go back to this inn!

Wow, what a wonderful place to stay! we absolutely loved it. This is not the place for you if you need 5 star amenities such as room service, spa etc. If you want friendly staff, very comfortable room, a lanai with a view, and a central location then this is the spot. We stayed 6 days, and found this fit our needs perfectly. We certainly will be going back next year.

We picked this hotel because we wanted somewhere close to the airport as we were coming in on a late flight and wanted somewhere for a coup[le of days before going for a timeshare week in Princeville.It fit our needs perfectly was perfect.The office was closed when we arrived but there was an envelope on the office door with the keys to our room.The hotel is older motel style but clean and well maintained with some interesting art as well.It was great base to explore the south of the island and 2 mins from one of the best swimming beaches on the island…Kalapaki.Dukes is also on this beach.The only downside is that is on the highway so you have traffic noise particularly in the morning but this was outweighed by all the positives about this place.

Room Tip: secind or third floor if you want a balcony

Hotel is in a great location, 1 hour from Waimea and 1 hour from Princeville. We had ground floor room 7 facing the parking lot with a "queen bed" (which was actually 2 twins pushed together, so bed was a little shorter than a regular queen) Room was spotless, very clean and nice to have a microwave and mini fridge for snacks. Free parking and free wifi are a great bonus as most hotels charge a "resort fee" as well as charge for parking. We were able to stay for 12 nights due to the reasonable price of this hotel. The front desk staff is amazing and so helpful. They also have any beach gear you could possiblly want for use at the front desk. Towels, boogie boards, sunblock, bug spray, umbrellas, coolers, etc. There are 2 small shopping centers within walking distance as well as a Marriott across the street with resturants and shops. If you are looking for nightlife, bars, etc this is not the place for you. Very quiet area with residental area all around. Most shops are closed by 8 and it quiets down significantly after that. Overall this hotel is a absolute hidden gem and truly makes going to Kauai affordable. We will stay here again!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the back of the property if traffic noise bothers you. We are sound sleepers, so i...
