“Fun at Marjorie's”
Reviewed March 15, 2014

Stayed at Marjorie's for three nights during vacation trip to Kauai. Had a substitute host while the owner's were away. Dawn and Randy did an outstanding job and provided us with a fantastic B and B experience.
Location is a beautiful valley just 10 minutes from the beach. The Inn is showing some age, however still very inviting and exceptionally clean. Plenty of space in our room. Great views from all balconies. Only down side was some construction noise from the neighbor's. However I doubt that is a daily problem.
Breakfast was plentiful with a nice variety.
Even though it wasn't necessary we had social hour each evening as the sun was setting. Very enjoyable. Randy was hilarious!
Would recommend this as a nice break from the hotel scene for a few days of cosy B and B time for any one visiting Kauai.

My husband and I spent much of our time in the Islands camping and backpacking so we were looking for a little luxury. Kauai is a paradise anywhere one goes, but this place is a slice above the rest. Our innkeepers Alexis and Mike are amazing and friendly. Getting to this beautiful place took less time than we thought but Alexis was kind enough to let us check in early. She texted us a couple of times to make sure we knew how to get there and when we arrived she had the most amazing plate of fresh Island fruit and delicious home made French pastries waiting for us. After showering off our camp dirt, we relaxed on our private porch overlooking the Botanical Gardens where Jurassic Park was filmed and had the extra wonderful treat of listening to Mike softly and beautifully place the Ukulela on the deck above us. After a delightfully comfortable and quiet night's sleep (Kauai campgrounds are filled with beautiful but loud roosters who crow at all hours...so it was a treat to have quiet), we were delighted by a filling gourmet breakfast followed by exceptionally wonderful conversation. I feel that we entered strangers but left friends with these two incredible Innkeepers! We will be back.

Room Tip: Plan to stay several days and ask them for local tips, they obviously love this Island!

So my wife and I spent almost 5 weeks in Kauai in five different venues...all had their special ambiance and charm. At Marjorie's we had the country/valley experience and were especially pleased. We chose Marjorie's because it had all those favorable reviews...all true... and for the closer proximity to Waimea Canyon and the south shore. Also, for us 'city folks', we felt this would be a change of pace from the beach experience. At Marjorie's there was something special ...like a vortex of nature had centered there. One morning, as we looked out over the valley with our binoculars, we noticed on the valley floor below that a goat was giving birth. It was endearing and joyous. As Alexis, the innkeeper said, "Kauai gets under your skin",..and it happened at Marjorie's.

Room Tip: the sunset room has it's own hot tub so you do not have to climb up or down the 48 stairs to the...

The Inn was clean with private bathrooms and the views from the lanai were fantastic. I would agree with Brian S., "this place was a refreshing breath of Kauai country breeze!" The moment you walked in, you felt welcomed and at home. Breakfast was wonderful and always more food than one could eat. The true spirit of Aloha is felt at Marjorie's Kauai Inn, living with joy, sharing life stories, and honoring the essence of all individuals. The Inn, along with Alexis & Mike, are definitely at the top of our list.

Breakfast much more than a typical bed and breakfast provides. Sunset room had great views, privacy, cozy and very comfortable. Many additional conveniences to accommodate your offsite activities. Innkeepers, Alexis and Mike, main objective was to make our stay a comfortable, enjoyable and memorable experience.

You can have the hotels in congested areas - this place was a refreshing breath of Kauai country breeze! Sitting high on a hilltop overlooking the picturesque, historic Valley of Compassion in rural Kauai, this B&B has everything you could need to relax after a day of exploration - saltwater lap pool, hot tub, charming views and charming innkeepers. Alexis and Mike are quick to accommodate with the best breakfasts and friendly attention I remember having at a B&B, as well as experienced advice on the island - even have trekking poles, beach chairs and coolers with ice, boogie boards etc. This place will make you smile for choosing it! There is plenty of privacy and it's close enough to the main road to be convenient. Can't wait to try their place in Costa Rica!

Room Tip: The Sunset Room is spacious and clean with a killer view - makes you feel like you're in the mai...

The island of Kauai itself is magical and Marjorie's is a perfect reflection of it. It's impossible to decide a favorite thing about this place. Is it the majestically panoramic views and the historical and mystical valley they're nestled in? Is it the thoughtful, gracious, detail-oriented innkeepers? Thier connections or the above-and-beyond amenities? The incredible energy of the place? How about the mouth-watering breakfast complemented by the luscious view and the delightful company? Perhaps the beautifully appointed rooms and every nook and cranny of the inn itself? If you're lucky enough to be there when the incredible proprietors are there, is it them? Who knows. I'm just glad I found it. Truly nirvana. Right there at the Inn on the hill in that valley in Lawai. One of my favorite places on earth.

Room Tip: They're all amazing in their own way but of course having your own hot tub....
