“Marjorie's Kauai Inn”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

We had a three night stay at Marjorie's and the only problem was that it was only three nights! The hospitality was great, the food was scrumptious, the view was beautiful! They were so helpful and you felt right at home from the first minute you arrived. Alexis and Michael easily do anything that makes their guests feel at home. The Inn was very clean and there were so many nice little details that just made it a joy to experience. The pool was very pretty but I never got to swim in it and I don't believe there was a fitness area. I hope to go back again!

We decided to try a bed and breakfast during our honeymoon and we are so glad we tried Marjorie's!! We were met by Mike and he took us into our room that had a kitchenette and amazing lanai!! We had such a great view! We had to leave the next morning early for a catamaran tour and they put a breakfast basket together in our fridge since we would be missing breakfast!
We loved the salt water pool, and the hot tub! Great views of the valley to enjoy! We loved the lanai and loved enjoying the nights and mornings in it!
We had access to snorkel gear, beach chairs, and boogie boards. Alexis and Mike even let us use their laundry as we had been traveling for over a week!
Breakfasts were awesome! Such great meal and foods! Lots of fresh fruits that we had never tried! It was fun to chat with the other guests and hear their stories!
We loved staying at Marjorie's and will be staying there again when we visit Kauai! Thanks Mike and Alexis!!!!

We enjoyed two nights at this secluded location. There are only 3 rooms. Parking on an incline may be challenging to some folks, as it was for us. Our room got really warm in the afternoon sun so we were glad we chose the room with AC. The pool is accessed by a steep staircase which is not handicapped friendly. Breakfast was nothing special except for fresh squeezed juices. The view from the patio is tops! We saw 5 different rainbows one morning. And don't worry about the roosters. Mike keeps them at bay with his air rifle. Mahalo Mike.

Room Tip: AC is needed.

My husband and I kicked off our Hawaiian honeymoon at Marjorie's. We had the Sunset Room with the hot tub and thought it was perfect. The inn is charming and has tasteful island decor and a beautiful view. The innkeeper Mike (Alexis was enjoying her own vacation) was very helpful and prepared healthy and delicious meals to start off our day. When we left the inn for a hotel we found ourselves missing our room and the company we had met at Marjorie's. I would recommend Marjorie's to both family and friends. Great place to stay for a great value.

My husband Noah and I stayed in the Trade Winds room at Marjorie's Kauai Inn for 8 nights. From the second we arrived we felt right at home. Mike, who owns the inn with his wife Alexis, met us at the door and was warm and welcoming. Our room, which was equipped with a kitchenette, was perfect. The fridge was stocked with soda, water and a tray with fresh fruit, homemade banana bread and chocolates. The bed was very comfortable. Yes there are roosters crowing early in the AM but there are roosters all over Kauai. Coming from NYC their call was a welcome change to sirens. We had our own lanai with a table, sitting chairs and 2 lounge chairs. The views were, quite honestly, stunning. I was up early every morning with a cup of tea watching the horses and goats down in the valley below. There's a variety variety of birds that fly around the large palm trees surrounding the inn. We saw 2 parrotts one morning while having breakfast and we think we spotted an owl in the evening. The sunsets over the valley are not to be missed. We had beer and pizza one night while watching the sun go down. It was one of the most nicest dinners I've had on Kauai. The salt water pool is gorgeous and very refreshing after a hike or the beach. It's perfect for a morning swim.

Marjorie's is tucked away in a residential neighborhood which is a nice alternative to a large hotel. It is about a 10 minute drive to Poipu beach. We were going out to dinner one night to celebrate a birthday. Since cocktails were going to be involved we didn't want to drive. When we weren't able to book a cab to take us to Poipu Mike not only offered to drive us there but also pick us up later in the evening. We took him up on his offer to drive us to the restaurant. Happily we were able to get a cab back to the inn which was great since I felt bad about asking Mike to pick us up late at night.

Mike's wife Alexis returned from a trip our last night there. We were glad we had a chance to meet her. She was super friendly. She booked us on a sunset tour, which she had been on and could personally recommend. She switched the hot dish for the next morning's breakfast when she realized I was a vegetarian. Their hospitality didn't stop with us. A German couple staying at the inn had the bad luck of losing the keys to their rental car at the beach. Alexis spent a considerable amount of time on the phone with the car company, dealing with the red tape.

Mike and Alexis also have beach gear-boogie boards, snorkels, masks, chairs, coolers, towels etc for use by guests. You can even do laundry-bonus when on a long trip!

In short, this a a fantastic place to stay. Not if but when we return to Kauai we will definitely be booking a room.

My girlfriend and I stayed at Marjorie's for two nights on our recent trip to Kauai, and enthusiastically recommend this B&B. Our room was perfect - waking up each morning to the rolling green hills of the valley below covered in sunlight was pretty much the best way to start each day. Mike, the innkeeper, was extremely friendly and helpful, giving us recommendations about hikes to take and beaches to see. This is an ideal place for a quiet, romantic stay - and the view from the breakfast room balcony is one we won't forget any time soon.

The inn is well-located, about 20 minutes from the airport, and close to Kalapaki Beach & other surrounding attractions.

Great value for the money, and we hope to come back soon!

My wife booked a room at Marjorie's based on the great reviews she read, but I was still skeptical about staying in a B&B that was not on the beach but I have to admit she made the right choice! The property is beautiful and the rooms are great. I appreciated the amazing level of privacy our room had, to include a private lanai with endless views of rainbows over the valley. The breakfasts were an additional bonus--healthy and delicious choices offered by the host, Mike, who must have studied nutrition somewhere-- I am a physician who counsels patients on diet and nutrition everyday, and I learned a few things from Mike. He was also very helpful with recommending places to see and where to eat out and equipped us with toys/snorkels for the beach. It was a great experience-- never going back to big hotels!
