One night in Hawaii after a long day of beach going we just wanted to get some good takeout and eat it on our balcony. Takeout near the Grand Hyatt is not easy to find but we called La Spezia and they said they could do it. We got pasta and lasagna with two salads. The sauce was great and the salads were fresh with good dressing.

When we went in and checked it out we also would have liked to have had time to eat there later in our vacation- the atmosphere looked great!

just opened in Koloa town in the old deli venue near TIMES market by the lady who owned Dali Deli and Casablanca. totally refurbished and very tastefully done in taupe, white, and beige modern with lovely accents and niches, the only things that were out of place were the gaudy crystal chandeliers that do not fit in with the minimalist, contemporary decor. that said, the brunch was very good. 3 of us had the Benny Italiano which was eggs Benedict with prosciutto instead of Canadian bacon. it was accompanied by sliced fresh fruit and grilled tomato. you can have your eggs soft, medium, or hard and they were done very well. the service was friendly and efficient. the dish was very good and plated very nicely. the fourth person had the bagels and lox which looked fine but he felt the amount of food was a bit small. i was not crazy abt the room temp water served in mason jars and on the table in a bottle. otherwise, i would certainly go back, ask for ice, and see how this resto matures. in the past the owner's restos (now closed) vacillated between average and not so hot, so it will be interesting to see how this one grows or wilts. it's all in the chef and the track record at this owner's restos has been spotty at best. right now, i would say, "go and enjoy!!!"

We dined at this lovely restaurant this evening and had a wonderful meal. Friendly service, a simple but sophisticated setting, very nice wine and fantastic food. What more can you ask for? We found the food full of flavor and the portion sizes filling but not too large. Liked everything about this place.

We were excited to try and heard good things about La Spezia. I did enjoy the unusual cocktail choices. I thought it unusual for an Italian restaurant to not offer bread or olive tapenade or something to welcome you to their dining experience, tho. I ordered their Chicken Fettuccine. It had no flavor and actually was quite bitter. When my husband asked for some cheese for his pasta, the server said,"Cheese? Like Parmesian?" and seemed quite surprised at the request. So odd. Also, its obvious everything is not "made to order". You can be in and out of there in 30 minutes. We won't be back.
