“Small beach, good snorkeling”
Reviewed June 4, 2014

awai beach is a small beach right along the road to Spouting Horn across the street from the Lawai Beach Resort. The setting is nice but can be crowded with the Snuba and Snorkeling classes arrive for their classes. No much room the lay out and relax, however, you can use the lawn outside the Reach House restaurant. It can be crowded also. You can have a relaxing day, but be aware of the crowds. The snorkeling is good and is great for watching fish. You may even swim with a turtle!

“Amazing Snorkeling!”
Reviewed June 2, 2014

And small enough breakers that even weak swimmers can get in and out of the water without too much of a problem. Crystal clear water, dozens of exquisite tropical fish. One day we saw a five foot monk seal (protected and endangered) sunning itself on the beach, with a roped off area keeping folks from getting too close and bothering the seal during it's nap. Also sea turtles (again do not touch), you can allow them to swim near you but people aren't allowed to swim after them. A lot of the coral is dead there but it is trying to regrow in many spots. Very small beach, not a lot of room for sunning, but then most visitors seemed they were there for the water activities. There are public restrooms, and a shower spickett outside to rinse the salt water and sand off. There is public parking and street-side parking. Probably would not be described as accessible.

“Rough sand, good fish variety.”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

We found it a little difficult to enter and leave the water because of how the waves break right at the shore. Knocked me over and filled my bathing suit with rough sand. After that I learned to back into the water wearing swim fins and take them off before exiting. Easy parking in the lot right across the street. Found a shady spot to sit in which is always nice. Nice variety of fish but the water was murky because the ocean was a little rough.

“good snorkling”
Reviewed May 27, 2014

Nice small beach but there are fish to see right off the beach, so good for beginners. Small beach but never seemed to be too crowded.
