The house was great -- roomy, right on the ocean, conveniently located. Loved sitting on the deck and watching the sea turtles. BUT, ultimately, the rental company, Parrish, was very difficult.
They knew we were two families of 4, but the sleeper sofa in the den was not made up. I had to locate sheets in a closet in a different room, make the bed up myself, and move furniture around in order to get the sleeper out and to close the doors to the den.
At the end of our trip, we asked if we could extend the check out time -- our flights were in the afternoon so we wanted to leave around noon instead of the required 10 a.m. We were told that no one was checking into the house, so we were welcome to stay until 6 -- for an additional fee of $450!
Before we checked out (at 10 a.m.) we stripped all the beds, put all the dirty towels in either a bathtub or the laundry room, did the dishes, cleaned out the fridge and took all of the garbage to the cans in the garage. We also left a tip for the cleaning staff.
When we got home, we were told by Parrish that they were going to deduct $100 from our deposit because the staff had to do 'extra laundry' and Parrish was charging us $25 per load. (We were 8 people and used 8 bath towels, 8 beach towels, and the sheets that were on the beds.) I explained that we had not used any more linens than normal and asked for an itemized list. Parrish then changed their story and said the extra charge was because the towels were dirtier than usual and had to be soaked and the pots and pans in the kitchen were not cleaned well enough.
We paid more than $6200 for the house for a week, including a $100 processing fee and $400 cleaning fee, and found the additional costs to be unexpected and unreasonable. We will certainly think twice about renting through Parrish again.

Aloha Snook Ohana,
We are glad you enjoyed the home. We are sorry that the sleeper sofa was not made up for you. That request was not passed on by your Travel Agent. Normally, we ask those questions of guests, but since we did not have direct contact with you, we could not. We have no record of a late out and in fact the only communication was that you were leaving the keys in the house since you could not get to our office due to the Koloa Plantation Days parade. We certainly would have allowed you stay to noon with no charge, so I am not sure whom you spoke with. Maybe the travel agent? Either way, our apologizes for any inconvenience.
On the $100 cleaning charge…the owner's housekeeper stated that the majority of the towels and bath rugs were very dirty and needed to be soaked and stain treated, which is excessive and required more than the usual. In addition, she needed to pull all the dishes, pots and pans from the cabinets since many were put away dirty. Due to this, we stand by the extra cleaning charge.
Hopefully we do have the chance to host you again.
