We're just a stroll away from the shops of historic Old Koloa Town and about 2 miles inland from the tropical and beautiful beaches of Po'ipu. My name is Miguel and I am from Veracuz, Mexico where we have a passion for fresh meats and vegetables, flavorful spices, and hot peppers! I grew up working on my family's ranch and learned how to cook and prepare foods from my mom and abuela (grandmother). Take-out (call in or walk up) or relax in our small outdoor patio setting with limited seating (for now). An island style casual family friendly atmosphere that is fast, fresh, tasty, and also easy on the budget. We also provide catering for your special event -small or large. My goal is to satisfy your hunger while making your taste buds dance with healthy Mexican foods that you'll savor our food and want come back for more.

I have had the Carnita's and they were very flavorful, just the way i like them, simple. If you are salsa lovers really try all of his they are each very different and really good. His chips are not home made but he is working in a taco TRUCK not a full restaurant. Over all very happy with this place and will be going back. oh ya good burritos too.

“The only real Mexican food in south Kauai -- and it's pretty good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 2, 2012

Seems odd staying at a high end resort in Poipu and eating from a trailer! But if you want real Mexican food, it's your only choice ( BTW Tortilla Republic is fabulous, but it's not Mexican food by any means). Fortunately the food at Chapula's is quite good. It's take out only, but there are two picnic tables and another small table in the parking lot along with the trailer. We ate at a picnic table and it was fine. Chapula's is a one man show, so if there are a few people ahead of you, you'll have to wait a while. They close at 6:00pm, so if you want Mexican for dinner, you'll have to eat early. If you have a craving for Mexican food, you won't go wrong here.

“Tacos in paradise!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 4, 2011

Taco wagons are common in our hometown, so we were expecting to have a good meal. Chapala exceeded our expectations. We had the fish tacos and a really big and tasty fish burrito. We'll be back!

“Good authentic mexican food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2011

We had the Mahi Mahi fish burrito. Lots of fish in there and it was huge. Not spicy at all but there were lots of sauces available to spice it up to your liking. The chips on the side could have been better - definitely not homemade like many Mexican restaurants.

“Best food after day at beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 9, 2011

This place was recommended to us from a waitress at The Beach House ( awesome ) . She said this was her favorite . It is located behind the old Koloa town shopping center in a food truck . It is pleasant sitting out side with The view of a mountain . I had the mahi mahi fish tacos . They were so good ! My husband had beef tacos . He was so enrhusiastic about the taco . Your kids and especially teenagers will absolutely love this ! It was also a nice break from The expensive food . The owner cook was so nice . Everything and every sauce was home made . You will be so happy you stopped . It is behind the island soap company on a side street .
