“Lovely restaurant”
Reviewed September 18, 2012

This place is open and airy and has a stylish simplicity, and delicious food (also great Mai Tais). The Kalua pork rice bowl is to die for; we also came back again and made a meal of a bunch of appetizers, which was terrific, too. Nice little shops around make this a great lunch destination (most likely also very nice for dinner, but we were there after a snorkel tour, then back again for another lunch).

“My favorite on the north shore”
Reviewed September 14, 2012

I do believe that Kauai is NOT noted for its restaurants. That said, the Lighthouse Bistro was my favorite north shore restaurant. Some of the reviews mentioned "view". Well, don't let that mislead you that you are going to have a view of the lighthouse & ocean. You're not. But it is open air with plants blowing in the breeze. It was great to get a decent salad! The meal was good/average. Service was friendly. On the expensive side. It seemed like a very local place. Nice/talented two person guitar team playing during dinner. Warning if you are afraid of cats. While dining, a black cat jumped right into my daugher's lap. The cat must be a regular because he went around the dining room jumping into other people's laps and they appeared to think it was the most normal thing in the world. We don't drink wine, but it looked like they had a killer wine selection. I would go back.

“Surprisingly good”
Reviewed September 7, 2012 via mobile

The exterior is not particularly inviting -- looks kinda like a hardware store, but the dining room is pretty and quiet, the bar is busy with a fast friendly bartender, and there's live music to boot. Food was surprisingly good -- had the Fish Rockets appetizer and the grilled ginger crusted swordfish. Nice selection of wine and beers 1/2 price during happy hour 4-6. Definitely your best option in Kilauea and one of the best on the North Coast.

“Super food at lunch”
Reviewed August 29, 2012

My wife and I stopped for lunch yesterday and had a fabulous meal with great service. We had teh Pork Spring Rolls to start, then my wife had the Beet Salad and there was enough to share and it was great. I had the Local Bowl (Kalua Pork, rice, carrots and cabbage) and it too was super. Nice atmosphere (open air seating but not outdoors). WIll definitely go there again.

“Bar serves best MaiTai ever!”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

We had just visited the Lighthouse on Kauai, and stopped for a refreshment at the Bistro. Miguel was the bartender on duty. He welcomed us warmly, helped us select the seat that best suited us, and brought us the best Mai Tais I have ever tasted. A full pint, the layers of liquors and fruit juices looked like an island rainbow. Miguel is of Cuban descent, so the mastery of rum must run in his veins. A wonderful conversationalist, he is of the type that makes you feel you have known him forever. This pleasant stop was one of the highlights of our trip. The atmosphere is tropical garden relaxing. Our only regret is that at 3 pm the restaurant was closed and the happy hour half price mai tais were not yet available. We may have to return to take advantage of both!
