“Birds and a view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 4, 2014

Beautiful views, endangered bird viewing. Worth the $5 fee. And there is a nice lighthouse. Free binoculars can be borrowed.

“Great bird watching”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 3, 2014

I'm a lighthouse fan so we drove out to take a look. Were able to get in free on National Park pass. Have telescope to see the nesting grounds. Many signs to help identify the birds and info on lighthouse. Nice little gift shop. Staff friendly and helpful.

“A must see on Kauai.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2014

Views from the point are breathtaking! The waves crashing all around are spectacular and so is the lighthouse! The little visitor center/museum is interesting too. Watching the birds is an added bonus!

“Don't miss this gem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2014

The Kilauea Lighthouse and Wildlife Refuge is a gem! I've been there 3 times in the last few years and it never ceases to amaze me. The panoramic views are breathtakingly beautiful and the 'magnificent seven' birds are soaring overhead, plunging into the water, doing ritual mating aerial dances, or nesting on the cliff sides. There are park rangers to share stories, a visitor center with wonderful merchandise, and small museum to explain the lighthouse's history and many of the birds' stories. There's even a returning pair of nesting Wedge-tailed Shearwaters who raise their yearly egg/chick against the museum and let people get a really close look! It only cost $5.00 per person and it is a small national park so it's very easy to do in a limited amount of time, although you'll want to linger! There are lots of large picture/poster billboards explaining the natural plants and animals of the area and how to help in conservation. I just love it and will return every time I visit Kauai, which is at least every two years! It's closed Sundays and Mondays but one can still drive to the lower bluff/inlet and see a view of the lighthouse, cliffs, ocean, and birds. Plus parking is easy!

“Great Place for Bird Watching”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2014

This is not a major attraction on Kauai, but if you want to view sea birds and their breeding habitats, this is a great place to do it. It's inexpensive ($5/person), and the view from the lighthouse point is lovely. The birds are interesting and while we were there, we saw a monk seal on the rocks below. They have binoculars that you can borrow for no additional charge. The entry fee goes to protecting the native birds of Kauai, so you can have a good time and support the ecology of the island at the same time.
