I wouldn't normally write a review, but after doing a lot of research and reading other reviews my bf and I thought this would be a great cost effective place to stay. Turns out it was very humid and we did tell the front desk. Our AC finally turned down but then we woke up sweating. The toilet paper, regular paper and carpet felt damp. We should have spent the extra money to stay the whole time at the Sheraton.

I am a constant traveler for work. Hotel convenient to everything. Staff need training in being helpful not just polite! Beds very comfortable. We had to check out early as bathroom was not working. Staff did not seem to care about our discomfort or having to change our travel plans. Still charged full rate for room we could not use!

The Hilton Garden Inn in Kapa'a is the perfect location for a Kauai vacation. It is close to the airport and the drive to Poipu (40 mins) or Hanalei (45 mins) makes it a good central location. Also, there is a very large shopping village two miles up the road and some cool local restaurants. We stayed in a cottage, but be advised, they are one-story duplexes, not single units, so hope for respectful neighbors. We had no issues. Also, there is a small kitchen sink and microwave, but no dishware or silverware -- just disposable cups for the Keurig; it is apparently not meant to be a "kitchen" and is not advertised as such. There were wall air conditioners, one in the bedroom and one in the living room. They were quiet and very efficient. Lastly, a bistro table and two chairs are supplied for you to sit out on your private covered lanai. The property is beachfront, but it's a good 100 yard walk across a nicely-maintained field to get to the beach, which has an enclosed, protected area for swimming -- very nice! Also, a MASSIVE playground for kids. Our cottage was very close to the playground area but it is such an open space that we did not hear any children while they were playing. We had read negative reviews about the food, but the food was very good during our stay. However, at $22.00/pp the breakfast buffet is too expensive and there are plenty of great alternatives in the area. Not surprising that the breakfast price is not mentioned on the web site. Chickens are EVERYWHERE on Kauai; so are people's complaints about them no matter where you stay. The in-wall air conditioners provided just enough white noise to all but block out the roosters. They were not a factor while we were in the cottage so we had good nights' sleep! This was our third trip to Kauai. We were happily and pleasantly surprised with this property and will definitely stay here again. Full disclosure -- first stay was a business trip arranged by someone else and second trip was an anniversary present, arranged and paid for by my very favorite uncle...

You never get a second chance to make a first impression... the lady at the reception made our stay in one of the nice cottages amazing. Everything was well prepared and our apartment was ready at noon already.

The cottages have enough space, nice bathrooms and comfortable beds. In less than 3min you will get to the sea or to one of the pools. The workout room is well equipped and the location of the hotel is perfect, if you like to discover the island. Approx 1h to Hanalei and 1h to Kekaha.

There are plenty of restaurants close by and I swear to high heaven you will need them. The restaurant which is embedded in the hotel does not meet the high standard of an Hilton Hotel in any aspect. Food, service or atmosphere are a full disappointment. It is so poor that I don't want to go into detail (if the guest relation manager of the hotel should read this, I am pleased to give you a plain feedback)

Do you know the typical bars where you like to sit because it is absolutely cosy and having good chats...? yeah ... you will Not find that kind of bar in that hotel....

Finally ... enjoy the perfect accomodation...

Room Tip: Avoid rooms which are pointing toward the highway!
