We last stayed at the Courtyard several years ago when it changed from Marriott Courtyard to a private brand. When I noticed in the Marriott website that the Hotel had returned to the Marriott Courtyard brand I was very happy. We stayed for one night between stays at the Marriott Vacation clubs (MVC) on Kauai and Oahu. Obviously it is not in the same caliber as the MVC's but it does have unique character. It has been upgraded greatly in the last few years. The staff welcomed us and treated us “very special” and was upgraded to an ocean front room. I am assume the upgrade was because we are at the top tier of the Marriott rewards program. The ocean waves breaking at night were the only sounds we heard. (After we turned off the air conditioner.) I liked the freedom of movement at this property. They own an incredible amount of ocean front and land around the Hotel. I never felt crowded ( like I did at the Marriott Courtyard in Waikiki.) This place is ideal if you just want to go and relax. There are plenty of lounge chairs directly in front of the ocean and around the pool...there is even a hammock hanging between the palm trees. We adore the MVC's but the atmosphere at this courtyard is very special and inviting ...as are the staff. We will definitely consider this property for an extended stay in the future. We were told that many improvements were planned also. We could also tell that the general manager has implimented the Marriot Quality Customer service program.

This hotel isn't bad at all -- especially if you can get a good price.

The rooms are average and could use updating, but Marriott's only owned it for a few months, hopefully they'll be able to modernize. The staff was really friendly, but skip the "concierge" desk. It's really just a sales pitch from an outside company, and they clearly get commission from specific companies.

Another thing to skip is breakfast -- it's overpriced. Go to Bobby V's a few doors down and get the same thing for half the price.

The pool is great, but not heated, so watch out on cool days. The hot tub is good too. The beach is pretty (watch the sunrise), but not a swimming beach.

The biggest issue with this property is location - it's in Kappa, which is more of a "city." Traffic isn't horrible by our standards (from Dallas), but for the island - it's awful. It's a busy area, and very central for the island, but if you want something more relaxing and remote, go to the southside of the island. The Poipu resort area may be "touristy" but the traffic is gone and it's much more remote feeling.

At Courtyard Kauai we pride ourselves on our friendly staff that epitomize the "Aloha Spirit" of the Garden Island. Our location in the small beach community of Kapaa allows easy access to Old Kapaa Town, about a half mile away. This mid island location also places us just a short 30 minute drive from major island attractions including Hanalei in the North and Poipu in the South.

Our setting, literally "on the beach", allows for the relaxing old world environment that our guests, many of whom return year after year, truly enjoy. Mahalo for visiting Courtyard by Marriott Kauai at Coconut Beach.

If you're looking for tranquility on Kauai, you will not be disappointed at the Courtyard at Coconut Beach. My family and I visited during the off-season so we felt at times like we had the whole place to ourselves. However, even in high-season at full capacity, the spacious facilities provide ample privacy for those looking for a peaceful tropical escape.
They have a good size pool & hot tub that catches a gentle breeze from the ocean.
I don't know when the hotel opened, but it appeard brand new. There were very few people in the restaurant/bar area & the coffee shop was never open. I'm not sure if this as because it was in the off season, or if it's because the hotel is so new.

My only suggestions would be an improvement in the work out facility. There are no weights, only cheap-grade cardio equipment. And also, to have more hammocks! There's only one that we found.

Overall, we had a great stay! Very comfortable rooms!

This is Mariott's newest hotel(which we thought was a brand new hotel), however it was just aquired by them in October 2010 and is not yet at the standard where Mariott normally is, which they said they were working to upgrade it. It is a great location and we got a great rate($75 night) which was definitely worth it for the price(I think normal price was $150 which is definitely too steep for this hotel). The hotel has a simple pool/hot tub and restaurant onsight(which we didn't eat at), however the bar does make wonderful fresh fruit drinks and very good service. The rooms are simple, but nice and clean and do have nice tv and fridge. The Location is excellent and near Coconut groves market adn also lots of shops/restaurants which are a short walk/or drive to. It is on the beach, but the beach/area is not recommended for swimming due to coral/currents. However plenty of beautiful beaches/swimming is just a short drive away.

This was our last stop, we chose this hotel and loved it it had just switched over th the marriot 2 days before we arrived. probly the best in my opinion. It was very open very quiet and laid back , which i prefer. The room was very nice bathroom a tad small but it worked . Vaulted ceiling , fridge, free internet , ocean view , bed was comfortable.
There were two restaurants we only ate at the bar it was very good, open air. The pool was small but nice , water was cold, there was a hot tub , the beach was nice not really swimable, but you could walk the beach which we enjoyed, again rented a car and did not stay at the hotel much, everyone here also so very friendly.
This was my favorite island, i do prefer the laid back atmosphere , wasnt much for shopping or restaurants compared to the other two we had visited. Still plenty to do!! The views again just amazing. I would stay here again !!

We stayed here with our two small boys for one night. I had read a bad review in a guidebook after the fact, but obviously, it was outdated. Our double room was clean, roomy, had a fridge, and our beds were comfortable. The hotel looked to be remodeled fairly recently. The grounds faced east and had a nice view of the ocean, however, the beach wasn't very swimmable. The pool was a nice size, but nothing fancy (no water features except for a small waterfall), as was the outdoor spa. Onsite parking was FREE.

Only a few minor complaints: the rooms were a bit dark (could go without the wooden, hinged window shutters) and the lanais were small. There was also some water leakage in the lobby when it rained. Also, the breakfast buffet was expensive ($20/person, yikes!) and the food was very mediocre.....

Overall, it was a good value and I would recommend this hotel. Personally, I wouldn't stay here for more than a day or two as we much prefer condo-type accommodations, which was the bulk of our stay in Kauai......
