Good location, not far to travel from the airport.
Good sized rooms, the only downfall is a very small balcony within the standard rooms.
This hotel had a nice restaurant and bar (average price for Hawaii).
Pool and outdoor jacuzzi very nice.
10 mins walk to a few shops and restaurant / cafe or a 25 min walk to the old town of kapaa.
We visited other hotels within the area, this one seemed the nicest.
Good restaurant about 5 mins walk away called the Bull Shed - very nice.

The Courtyard by Marriott at Coconut Beach is a very nice property located at the South End of Kapaa, Kauai. It is on the beach though they don't recommend swimming at their beach. The rooms are nice but as most Courtyard properties, a little on the small side. The front desk staff was very helpfull and pleasant. They charge $20.00 a day for parking and a mai tai but that did include free use of two beach chairs and two nice beach umbrellas.
On some Fridays they offer a dinner and polynesian experience show for $40.00 per person. The dinner is a buffett which was good but not outstanding. The polynesian experience was performed by students of a dance school and was very entertaining and very professional.
I booked the Courtyard through Hot Wire so the property would not honor by Marriott Rewards card. The only thing that I didnt like was that the beds were not as soft as I like. Would probably be ok for most people.

Very nice property on the outskirts of Kappa, Kauai - airport side (Lihue). Very nice property right along the beach, everything is very up to date, and clean. Only complaint we had was there is a rather large shopping center next to the property which is run down and in need of updating - several motels right next to it. Shops have a lot of vacant stores - a update to the mall is desperatly needed, with this many hotels right next door they are missing out on a lot of potential shoppers, not only from the motels, but also from the travelers going up and down the main road around the island. Make sure to do a Na Pali sightseeing tour - either by boat or by helicopter - only way to see this part of the coastline due to rugged terrain - this is one of the prettiest spots in all of the Hawaiian islands to see!

Room Tip: request ocean view room

We stayed at the Marriott Courtyard for 4 nights at the end of May. We wished we could have stayed longer. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. Our original ocean view room did view the ocean but that was it. We went to the front desk and asked if they had something that viewed the ocean and the pool and they were able to move us. We were very pleased with our room and also the price was very reasonable.

We loved the area, Kapaa is a wonderful small town with friendly people and many restaurants to choose from. It is centrally located so it is easy to get to the Northshore or Waimea Canyon.

The hotel had entertainment every night we were there and a nice gathering area near the pool with a gas fire pit to sit around while enjoying a beverage. The gentleman at the front desk was very helpful and always greeted us with a smile (I wish I had caught his name so I could include it in this review). Heather who gives instructions/classes on making island jewelry in the morning (she also sells it too) was very friendly. She gave wonderful options of things to do on the island and also recommended some restaurants that were very good. The hotel was very lay back and welcoming.

The balcony was small and so were the bathrooms but I think it is just the way the building was designed. Our room was modern and updated. We loved our stay and will stay again next time we are in Kauai.

I chose the Courtyard by Marriott Kauai at Coconut Beach since it was reasonably priced for an updated hotel. I didn't rent a car so the location was great where I could walk to the shopping center that took me less than 10 minutes to get to.

On the surface this hotel looks like a decent way to save a few buck on a Hawaii trip. But the rooms are old, the drains smell, the carpets are coming up in places. The pool is OK, and it's right on the ocean, but for a few dollars more you can stay at the Marriott and it's much nicer. Parking is pretty easy, unless there is function in the hall, then you could be stuck circling for a spot.

We booked this hotel mainly because we had enough points to cover half the nights we were staying there. I wasn't super thrilled about it because I didn't really equate the courtyard with a nice vacation. However, this wasn't your everyday courtyard. I've never been to a courtyard resort with a spa, etc. All of the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and nice. Yes, the balconies are small. Not a big deal to me. It's right on the beach. The pool is nice. It's a great value and I would definitely recommend it.

Aloha bleujello7,
Mahalo for letting out the secret that the Courtyard by Marriott at Coconut Beach is a "different" kind of Courtyard. We are one of the few if not the only Courtyard that is really a resort with resort ammenities. Our central location on Kauai offers so many options for fun and dining experiences. We are located right on the beautiful Kauai bike path and have bikes available for our guests to enjoy the beauty of the ocean for many miles. ( it is mostly flat so guest of all ages can enjoy it)
We hope to see you again and please feel freee to let out our "resort" secret.
mahalo,
DougM, Manager
