On Priceline we booked the following room: Partial Ocean View Room. Prime Ocean Front Property.
We checked in yesterday, but got room 267 in the Maui building, definitely no front property. When I showed my printed reservation where it says front property, the lady at the service desk said that this is misleading and she is sorry about that. Nothing more...too bad

Aloha!

Thank you for sharing your experience while staying at the Aston Islander on the Beach. I am so sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience while at the Islander! We are appreciative of your "constructive criticism" regarding your unfavorable guest experience. Should you find your way back to our beautiful Island of Kauai stop by the newly renovated Islander Sand Bar, granite countertops, new cabinets, bamboo decor..! It's the perfect setting for a relaxing drink by the pool. We continue to work on improving our customer service and enhancing our guest experiences.

Mahalo,

We stayed at the AIOB for 3 nights, and was better than expected, rooms are cozy, spacious, well maintained, with a mini kitchen, so you can cook, store food and relax. The beach is the only downside: dangerous to swim at, has a lot of coral, strong waves and current; it is beautiful to stay on the sand and relax, but Lydgate Park is very close and excellent to swim at.
Close to supermarkets, there is Eggberts on the plaza next door which is excellent for Brunch, Hukilau Lanai in the proximities is very nice for a romantic dinner.
I think it is a great option if you are on a budget to stay in this place

Room Tip: If they offer you an ocean view room for a surcharge, unless you really want to feel the sea breeze...

This will probably be our only trip. So we were thrilled. It was perfect for what we were looking for. Layed back, slow paced, relaxing. Mostly adult which we were hoping for. The rooms on ocean front have plenty of privacy and beautiful veiws. Clean rooms. Staff was very helpful, from the General manager to housekeeping. Grounds are very well kept. No restaurant at resort, but within easy walking distance. Eggums in market next door had very good breakfast. The Tree bar at the edge of parking lot is open at least until midnight and a easy walk home. Great restaurant at hotel next door for a fancy dinner. Dukes also great food. We went to see "South Pacific" for dinner and a play. Great intertainment. The ONLY draw back to the whole trip was the Blue Dolphin boat tour which I managed to get VERY seasick during. So I couldnt even tell you what they served as dinner. But would we do it all again? In a heartbeat.

Room Tip: We stayed in a ocean front room. # 332 on the corner of the 3rd floor. Ocean in front of us and th...

We booked 3 nights at this hotel after 1 week in a condo. Got a good deal through Priceline. Our unit was in the Hawaii building # 118 and it was great. Updated, granite countertop wetbar with sink, microwave and mini fridge. We loved that the room had tile floors, it was really clean. We could see the ocean from our lanai. The only downside was that the pool area was really small.

First, great location. Kapaa is the best city on the island simply due to location to both the north and south shore. Had an Oceanside room and hearing the waves each night with your door open - great stuff. Very clean grounds and the beach outside the door, while not the best for swimming, was still relaxing (though some of the chairs are in disrepair). Seems like most of the guests staying here were older so it wasn't super loud, but nonetheless, the hottub is cannibalized every night by a younger crowd. The BBQ grills were a godsend; instead of going out every night and spending tons of money, we hit up Costco in Lihue and stocked up on shrimp, steak, chicken, etc. and literally saved us hundreds of dollars and well-recommended to minimize your costs.

Construction is currently going on and they are replacing the far west building's roof. They have done this to a few of the buildings so it will continue for a bit. The construction noise is tolerable though it does distract from the experience. The bar is also being renovated and is currently down. No biggie since you should be buying your own alcohol anyway. What is not acceptable is the parking situation. Good luck trying to get a spot after 7pm as it's simply luck at that point. Pretty much every review states the same thing and it's definitely worth a demotion of one star simply due to this headache.

We absolutely loved our stay. We had a second floor oceanfront room (247). The location of the room was the reason I loved the hotel so much. Although we were gone a lot, the view from the room was fantastic. The rooms have air conditioning, a microwave, refrigerator and dishes. Coming in July, we used the air conditioning. We really enjoyed the Sand Bar (a small bar next to the pool), it was a great place for socializing. Jason and Eric were wonderful bartenders. The bar was closing for remodeling but fortunately, we were there before it closed. Everyone on the hotel staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back but only if I had an oceanfront room.

Room Tip: Splurge on the oceanfront!

We stayed at this hotel two and a half years ago and had a great time. So when we returned to Kauai, we booked here again. However, it seemed that the hotel was a bit neglected over that time. Our first room that we were given was very musty. The second was better, but not great. A major renovation is going on to some of the buildings. I guess management felt the same way. The location is great - on the beach and equidistant between the north and south shore.
Hopefully, the finish the renovations soon.
